One of the many things that has remained constant throughout the main Pokémon series is the shorꦚt (usually one or two sentences) written entry for every Pokémon in the Pokédex. These help give trainers a bit of insight into a particular Pokémon’s personality, physical characteristics, and/or temperament.
Most of these written descriptions are quite🍃 innocent – featuring flowery descriptions of small furry creatures. However, some of these little written descriptionsꦐ can get a little creepy, and cause a reader’s mind to go to its dark basement. Some of the Pokédex entries in rank among the creepiest in the franchise.
10 Yamask – Sword Version 𒁃 🥃
"It wanders through ruins by night, carrying a mask that’s said to have been the face it had when it was still human.” The description in the Shield version describes how Yamask were humans,♛ and now wander the planet “searching for someone who knows its face.♏"
The Sword version is creepy, sure, but it also forces a thousand questions to be asked. Yamask were once human, now they’re small ghostly creatures that are forced to carry a mask of their human face. Truly, the gods of the Pokémon world are a vengeful lot.
9 Flapple – Shield Version 💃 ♏
“It flies on wings of apple skin and spits a powerful acid. It can also change its shape into that of an apple.” This description is dangerously close to Disney villain territory. The Sword version isꦅ much more basic – 🙈it describes how it evolves, and that it “stores an acid capable of causing chemical burns”.
The Shield version begins in a manner similar to Grimms’ Fairy Tales; Snow White even features an apple as part of the story. A lot of 𒆙fan art depicting Flapp🌸le even shows the Pokémon in dark settings, or with a sinister look.
8 Coa💯lossal – Sword Version 🐻
“It’s usually ﷽peaceful, but the vandalism of mines enrages it. Offenders will be incinerated with flames that reach 2,700 degrees Fahrenheit.” Talk about a mood-swing. This Pokémon goes from “peaceful” to “incinerated with flames” if it catches someone writinꦯg their name on the wall of a mineshaft. Just when we thought mines couldn’t get any more dangerous.
With Pokémon like this, one wonders if the job of miner even exists in the Galar region; and 🧔to what kingly levels o👍f hazard pay does that job afford.
7 🐬 Mimikyu – Busted Form – Sword Version
“There will be no forgiveness for any who reveal that it was pretending to be Pikachu. It will bring the culprit down, even at the cost of its own life.” If there is ever a Detective Pikachu horror movie, the Mimikyu should be the “monster”. This little 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Ghost-Type Pokémon is so fearsome that merely looking upon onꦏe can be fatal.
This description is made even creepier when taking into account the Shield version of the Busted Form – ඣ“There was a scientist who peeked under Mimikyu’s old rag in the name of ꦜresearch. The scientist died of a mysterious disease.” What fresh horror is hiding under that disguise anyway?
6 Frosꩵlass🎐 – Sword Version
“After a woman met her end on a snowy mountain, her regrets lingered on. From them, this Pokémon was born. Its 🍌favorite food is frozen souls.” Froslass is a ghost born of a tragic deatꦅh, motivated by regret, and with a thirst for the souls of the living. It likes the souls to be frozen; how lucky for Froslass that it generates tremendous amounts of cold.
Seriously, this Pokémon is pure nightmare fuel from the icy depths of Hades. The Bogeyman checkꦺs under its bed for Froslass b𒈔efore it goes to sleep.
5 Cramorant – Gorging Form – Sword Vꦗersion
“This Cramorant has accidentally gotten a Pikachu lodged in its gullet. Cramorant is choking a little, but it isn’t really bothered.” That is a vivid, graphic descri🤪ption of everyone’s favorite yello𝔉w mouse being devoured – in what is essentially a children’s game.
The written entry in the Shield version i⭕sn’t any less creepy actually – “Th🍬e half-swallowed Pikachu is so startled that it isn’t struggling yet, but it’s still looking for a chance to strike back.” These descriptions are starting to paint a bleak picture of the Galar region.
4 ꧂ Morgrem –🎶 Shield Version
“With sly cunning, it tries to lure peopl🍸e into the woods. Some believe it to have the power to make crops grow.” Morgrem are vicious little things; not only do they have the appearance of devils, but the mindset as well. To what end is this fiend luring people into the woods?
Does luring people into the woods somehow allow it to make crops grow? Are the people of Galar eating food nourished by the souls of their neighbors? Miners need to look out for Coalossal, and apparently fa🧸rmers need to be wary of Morgrem. Sure, they’ll make the crops grow – right before luring its victim into the woods (for who knows what).
3 Gothori♛ta – Sword Version
“It’s said that when stars shine in the night sky, this Pokémon will spirit away sleeping children. Some call it the Witch of Punishment.🔯” If Gothorita looked more like Jigglypuff, this entry w⛎ouldn’t be creepy at all; one can easily imagine Jigglypuff sweeping children away at night for a fun adventure.
If Gothorita was at least sometimes depicted smiling it might be less creepy – maybe. The so♒ulless stare of the Gothorita doesn’t fill one with hope those children it "spirits away" will ever🦩 be seen again. It’s definitely more Captain Hook than Peter Pan.
2 𝓀 ❀ Dusknoir – Shield Version
“With the mouth on its belly, Dusknoir swallows its target whole. The soul is the only thing eaten— Dusknoir disgorges the body before departing.” The Dusknoir is known as the “Gripper Pokémon”, but “Devour🐈er of Souls” might be more appropriate. Is this Pokémon spawned by the tragic death of Shang Tsung du🥂ring a trip to Galar?
What makes this even creepier is that this Pokémon towers over seven feet in height – so human souls are probably on the menu. The Sword version’s entry is just as creepy; alluding that Dusknoir might be pawns to so🌊me more 🐼powerful force.
1 ♌ Gengar – Gigantamax Form – Shield Version
“It lays traps, hoping to steal the lives of those it catches. If you stand in front of its mouth, you’ll hear your loved ones’ voices calling out to you.” It should be no surprise to Pokémon players that the most iconic Ghost💝 Type Pokémon from Gen 1 made this list.
These things look evil to their core – which is a perfect reflection of how sinister they are. If any Pokémon on this list sounds like the creature in a horror movie, it’s Gengar. It sets traps so it can steal its victim’s soul, and you can hear your loved ones calling out to you from its mouth – The Babadook a lightweight compared to a 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Gigantamax Gengar.
