Possibly the single most valuable item players can obtain in any Pokemon game, the Master Ball is often the source of one of the hardest decisions players will ever have to make. Since it is quite rare for players to find more than one of these guaranteed-catching 🎉devices, knowing which Pokemon to use it on can be headache-inducing.

The Master Ball returns in all its glory in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Sword and Shield, allowing players at least two guaranteed catches in their adventures through Galar, assuming players have purcha🌄sed the Expansion Pass. However, like previous games in the Pokemon series, it is possible to obtain more than one Master Ball, though it isn't nearly as easy ಞto get as the first one.

Updated February 14th, 2020 by Callum Archer: Since the release of the complete Expansion Pass for Pokemon Sword & Shield, players are not only give♚n a vast number of new Pokemon with which to use their precious Master Ball on but are also given more opportunities to obtain Master Balls in the game. With this in mind, it was only fitting to update this guide to include the changes that came about from the Crown Tundra expansion.

6 ไ Where To Find The First 🍰

Professor Magnolia with Leon outside the player character's house

In the past, players have been able to obtain the Master Ball fairly late in the game, with it appearing in the Silph Co. building in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Red and Blue and being gifted by Professor Elm after defeating Claire in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Gold and Silver. Unlike past Pokemon titles, players have to wait until they have beaten the game 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:and defeated Chairman Rose after he interrupts the Pokemon League. Once the credits have rolled and players are sent back into the game, Professor Magnolia will be waiting for the player character in their house, where they will gift them with a Master Ball before sending them on the post-game journey involving 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Zacian and Zamazenta.

After jumping into the Crown Tundra DLC, which isn't recommended until after you have finished the game, despite being able to access the area as soon as the Wild Area opens up, players will have to face off against Peony in a battle. Whether you win or lose this battle, he will direct the player to find his daughter, who is hiding out in the Dyanamax Adventures cave. After doing your first run through this new game mode, Peony will ask you to meet him at the Freezington Inn, where he will give the player yet another Master Ball to help in their quest to find more legendary Pokemon. In order to keep the player from sequence breaking the game, you won't be given this Master💦 Ball unit Magnolia gives players the first one.

4 ꧂ How To Obtain More 🐬

Rotom PC Loto-ID function inside a Pokemon Center

Starting with generation two, players have been able to obtain more than one Master Ball in the same save file, though it isn't exactly easy. This was normally done through some kind of lottery system, which returns in Sword and Shield as the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Loto-ID option on a Rotom PC inside Pokemon Centers. Players can attempt this lotto once a day and can obtain𓃲 various other prizes like PP Up for lowe🍃r-level winnings.

If a Pokemon's trainer ID matches up perfectly with the lotto number, the Rotom PC will grant them an additional Master Ball, though this sounds easier than it actually is. A great way to get Pokemon with different trainer ID's is to use the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Surprise Trade mechanic over and over again, which will give players multiple Pokemon with different ID's and increase their chances. This way, ✱it is possible to obtain a Master Ball well before finishing the game, though it is incredibly unlikely, as actually winning the main prize with Loto-ID is easier said than done.

3 🦂 When The Master Ball Fails

Sword and Shield trainer battle

Despite claiming to be able to catch a Pokemon 100% of the time, there are moments where the Master Ball will fail, though it isn't a very common occurrence for long time players. Like with every other Pokeball, the Master Ball won't work if it is used on another trainer's Pokemon, since this is considered stealing and is only acceptable for the regional evil team. There are also times when the player isn't allowed to attempt to capture Pokemon, such as the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Mewtwo Max Raid event that gave anyone able to complete it a massive amount of experience and st✨rong items, but were unable to capture the Legendary Pokemon.

2 Where To Use ཧIt ⛎

Zamazenta and Zacian cutscene in Sword and Shield

Since players aren't given their first Master Ball until they have finished the main game, there's no way or reason to use it before the Pokemon League. The post-game content opens up possibilities of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:caܫtching more powerful Pokemon in the Wild Area, as all Pokemon have their levels increased to at leasꦓt 60, but there is one Pokemon in particular that players should use their Master Ball on, which is the cover legendary.

Considering the fact that players get the Master Ball just before embarking on the post-game quest which involves Zacian and Zamazenta, it seems clear that even Game Freak thinks that this is the best use of the item. As the cover legendaries, Zacian and Zamazenta have an abysmally low capture rate of 3, which✱ is the same as Mewtwo in Red and Blue as well as most other legendary Pokémon in the mainline Pokemon series. However, it may also be best to save your Master Balls until you begin the Crown Tundra DLC, as there are many more legendary Pokemon that are just as hard to catch in that area.

1 Where Not To Use It 👍

Shiny Zeraora raid in Sword and Shield

There are a few times where it can be tempting to use a Master Ball, but not all of them are worth it in the end. Rare and promoted Max Raid battles might seem worth it using the Master Ball at first, but they can simply be attempted again if players fail the first time. Normal Max Raid battles are always a guaranteed capture, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:including 🌳non-promoted Gigantamax forms, so the Master Ball shouldn't be used here. A shiny Raid encounter will always be shiny, so if players saved the game before attempting the Raid and didn't 💎capture it, they can simply reset the game and try aga🌜in.

Eternatus, the other main legendary, is also a guaranteed capture, so this is one legendary Pokemon that players can use a reg🥂ular Pokeball on a capture i𝐆t 100% of the time. Every Pokemon in Dynamax Adventures, including the legendary found at the end of a run, has a guaranteed catch rate, meaning there is no point saving them for the harder Pokemon like Palkia or Dialga.
