Not everyone would turn to Pokémon for philosophical insights, but if one pays attention, there are great lessons to be learned. Pokémon is highly applicable to life at large — lessons about perseverance, nature, and friendship have been mainstays of the series. It's not just a franchise about collecting ultra-rare shinies.

Pokémon Sword & Shield is a c൩oming of age ﷽story. And it's full of random trainers and NPCs spewing life advice at your character. Why? Because players take on the role of a young, inexperienced trainer, and the NPCs make it their duty to prepare the character for the challenges ahead...for better or worse. Here are their most insightful quotes in the game.

10 R💟andom Boy Entered Zen Mode

In Circhester, players speak to a boy that asks a rather innocuous statement: "Are snowmen Pokémon?" Now is this🥃 actually profound or silly childhood nonsense? He could be alluding to Zen mode that surprises players in Melony's gym. Or maybe he's actually onto something.

Let's not forget, this is a world , keychains, and even garbage bags. Why couldn't snowmen be Pokémon? Does anyone actually know what defines Pokémon...the 🐬very nature of life itself.

9 ☂ Doctor On Route 6

There's a sobering quality to nearly all the doctors in Galar. In a region where the Champion is seen as a hero who can solve all problems, doctors are probably overshadowed. And on Route 6,  players battle a doctor who se🐽ems fatigued about his job and depressed about the world. He says: "The world would be a better place if there was no need for doctors."

While we appreciate his fan🃏ciful imagination, the world obviously needs doctors. So maybe stop waiting on remote mountaintops challenging trainers and get back to work.

8 Hotel Lady 🅘

In the halls of the Ionia Hotel, players encounter a strange woman sitting on a couch. Talk to her and she'll tell you that "the hallways of hotels have always made me feel like I've got lost 🐷somewhere." What a strangely poetic sentence. Why's she's keen to recapture her childhood, by sitting alone in the hallway is not the main concern. But in the first-ever Pokémon game, her remark seems fitting.

Galar is a bi𓃲g place and is even bigger for a child to explore. Just like a hote🐎l, it's easy to get lost inside of it.

7 ജ Doctor On ꧃Route 9

It's probably no surprise that the doctors continue to be the main purveyors of wisdom in Galar, and this doctor on Route 9 hits players with a truth-bomb that should🃏 get their knees shaki๊ng.

Many people make poor decisions that compromise their health and think nothing of it when they're healthy. Broadly speaking, people are masters at taking things for granted.🥂 What does this have to do with the Pokémon battle you just had? No idea.

6 ♊ Rose's Plan ♌

Rose has the typical villain worldview: Making sacrifices for the greater good, egotism, etcetera, etcetera. During a cutscene, after you reach the top of Rose Tower, Rose reveals cryptic details to Leon about . As you might expect, his argument for unleashi♉ng Dynamax energy across all of Galar is a little flawed.

Still, at that moment, Rose also makes a powerful statement: "We must take ac💞tion in order to avert tragedy. So that all can look forward to a better future." Right on Rose!

5 ℱ ♕ Doctor Graham

The doctor on Route 9 is a regular foe, dressed like any other doctor. But we've never heard such woke thoughts in a Pokémon game.

In one sentence, the Doctor unravels a truth about fainted Pokémon  players thought the🎃y knew. Defeating Pokémon in the wild and in trainer battles causes the𒐪m pain. They don't just magically heal like they do in the Pokémon Center.

4 🐷 Lonely Fr൩ank

In Hammerlocke, there's a girl named Paula who has players deliver a letter to her true love Frank. Frank can be found in Ballon✤ea, and he's much older than expected. After he reads it, he'll give players a Silk Scarf and some unexpected words of wisdom.

"Make sure you treasure those dear to you while you have them close." He didn't treasure his relationship with his trཧue love, so she escaped his grasp. He's probably the most thoughtful character in the g💟ame. Someone should really give him a hug.

3 The Purposeful Posꦉtman

The ♎Postman on Route 9 is an inspiring man. After his defeat, he says that letters have to be read to communicate the feeling contained inside, and his dedication goes beyond the regular call of duty. He continues: "Even if it was the last letter sent, I'd deliver it no matter what."

It's a rare moment of self-awareness. It is diffi𒁃cult to not recall Fran🐲k and Paula and the letter. Frank was filled with regret, while Paula found closure. Having played the postman earlier in the game, it's a quote that connects on a deeper level.

2 🌜 Champion Leon

Before the championship battle, Leon's words reveal a sig♐nificant aspect of his character. He says: "Remember, the audience is als✨o a bit cruel...they want nothing more than to see one of us lose."

For most of the game, Leon's antics appear ridiculous, and his ego soars as high as his Charizard; however, he understands his rela✅tionship with the audience. He gives them what they want: Action, fanfare, and crushing defeats. They might cheer the main character as they climb to the top, but secretly they are just as happy to watch them lose.

1 Thℱe Sad Cabbie 𓆏

Despite the joyful atmosphere of the Po🍸kémon world, there are a surprising number of wounded people walking around. On Route 7, players can battle a Cabbie. After defeating him, he will say: "No matter where I go in my tax🌄i, loss and loneliness seem to follow."

Talk about a mood changer. This poor man and his nihilistic worldview really put a damper on the whole becoming-the-Champion thing. Kind of a dark message for a ten-y๊ear-old. Maybe he hasn't been getting enough tips?
