It has great bulk like the rest of Gordie's team and well-rounded stats overall with the exception of Speed. Most of its strength and viability, however, comes from its signature Ability, moves, and Gigantamax form.
Coalossal's signature Ability, Steam Engine, will maximize its Speed stat if it is hit with a Fire or Water attack. This gives Coalossal the speed boost it desperately needs. Once it's speedy enough, it can use it꧃s signature move, Tar Shot, to increase the damage output of Fire-type moves like Flare Blitz. To top it off, Coalossal's Gigantamax form gives it access to the Rock-type attack, G-Max Volcalith, which not only inflicts massive damage but also continues to do residual damage for four turns after. With the defensive boost and its natural bulk, Tyranitar can stick around꧟ on the battlefield for quite soﷺme time as it dishes out a huge chunk of damage each turn. Even without its Mega Evolution or Dynamax form, Tyranitar can still stomp through teams if its opponents are not careful. It often takes a strong and speedy Fighting-type Pokémon to take Tyranitar down before it can wreak havoc.
