In the late '90s, Pokémon was introduced to the world and was a massive hit. It wasn't long before the game was expanded into a , manga, and a trading card game. There's a huge nostalgic factor for the original card set. A lot of adults today grew up collecting, trading, and playing the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Pokémon Trading Card Game and are sure to recognize most of 🌳the cards in this list.
Plenty of these cards are still available for sale online and are easy to find, and some go for 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:thousands෴. But for this list, we'll be taking a look at the best cards used in the game and what they do th🧜at makes them so special.
10 Charizard
It's no surprise to see this card on this list. There's no card in the Pokémon TCG that's more recognizable than this one. Unfortunately, there's no way it can claim the number one spot. Pokémon Power is good, but it doesn't make sense in a fire deck, where al🌠l of your energy will be Fire Energy. Charizard is really only good when paired with Blastoise.
Blastoise's Pokémon Power lets you attach as many water energies as you want to any pokemon. Provided you have enough energy an🎉d energy retrieval cards, you can turn Charizard into a steam engine and completely bulldoze your opponent with Fire Spin. As it is though, Chꦅarizard can't stand alone.
9 ꩲ Gust of Wind
Kids who played the Pokémon games could be forgiven for thinking that control wasn't important. Your opponent 🌳can't control anything when you're spamming Flamethrower. But in the card game, control is everything, and Gust of Wind is by far one of the best, aဣnd most obnoxious, cards you can use.
Imagine you've finally placed your winning Pokémon on the field.ꦑ You're ready for an easy victory. Buജt then it happens: a Gust of Wind. Without warning, your prized pick is switched out for some slowpoke you had on your bench. It gets deleted by your opponent, and they draw a prize card. The only way to fight Gust of Wind is to have nothing on your bench, but that too comes with risks.
8 Double Co𒊎lorless♏ Energy
Getting your Pokémon ready to fight can take a long time in the Pokémon TCG. Especially when you need four or more energies. Fortunately, a lot of high energy moves required one or more Col✱orless Energies. While you could use any energy type to fullfil these requirements, a Double Colorless Energy🦹 would provide two energy in a single turn.
Normal decks running four of these could be difficult to face, having to contend with tanks like Snorlax or Chansey. For them⛎, Double Colorless Energy provided a much-needed speed boost to getting them battle-ready.
7 🍒 Pokémon Breeder
These days it's uncommon to run anything more than a Basic or Stage 1 card. But in the original set, some of the best cards, like the starter pokemon, were Stage 2 cards. This would mean waiting an extra turn to get your main attacker out on the♊ field. But with the Pokémon Breeder, you could accelerate this by a full turn. Getting your main Pokémon out turn two could be a disaster for your opponent.
This would often be run with cards that would let you search through your deck to get a specific car🍃d. Failing that, you could always use draw cards like Bill or Professor Oak and hope that you'd be lucky enougꦛh to get what you needed.
6 ❀ ꦉ Item Finder
This is a card that no deck should be without. The Item Finder allowed you to fetch a trainer card from the discard pile, in exchange for two cards fr𒆙om your hand. The downside of this is you had to have two other card𓆏s in your hand for this to work.
But the upside was that you could end up with way more cards in your hand really quickly. Or you could end up hamstringin🐲g your opponents Pokémon by getting something back out like an energy removal. It is by far one of the best trainer cards you could get.
5 Super Energy R𒁃emoval
Most decks aren't built to handle significant energy👍 drain, other than Fire decks. With Fire-Type Pokémon, you often see powerful moves that require discarding energy in oꦰrder to work. For those that built such decks, they had strategies to help them mitigate that loss.
For everyone else, the use of this card could be enough to knock them out of the game. Without certain Trainer cards or Pok😼émon Powers, ꦆit would take two turns to get back to fighting shape. But by then, it was usually too late.
4 Blastoise
Blastoise has one of the best Pokémon Powers in the game. It's ability lets you attach asඣ many water energies as you want to your Pokémon before you attack. With the right chain of Trainer cards to draw more energies, you could fully energize your active and benched Pokémon.
This mean that no matter what happened to you, you'd be prepared. And if Blastoise was your attacker, you c♋ould get Hydro Pump up to the full 60 damage immediately and dominate your opponent.
3 Mr. Mime
Mr. Mime has a bit of a weird gimmick. Any🌳 attack that dealt 30 or more damage was completely negated. The only way around this was to either put a status effect on him, or to fight him with an incredibly weak pokemon like Magikar꧟p.
This was a super-effective strategy against decks that r🦂elied on dealing a lot of damage very quickly. An with Mr. Mimes Meditate attack, combat be꧙comes a war of attrition, doubling in damage every turn.
2 Bill
Bill and Professor Oak were two cards you would always run four of, no matter what deck you were building. Together they'd let you draw more than ha🎀lf your deck. This was the best way to guarantee that you'd get the cards you needed as soon as possible. Playing Bill has absolutely no drawbacks.
If you draw him one turn, you would essentially be drawing two cards instead of just the one. With every exp𒁃ansion since, there's either been Bill or some variation of bill, allowing the player to draw cards for free.
1 Prof✨essor Oak
This, like Bill, is indispensable in any deck. Unlike Bill, it has a price. You have to discard ever🦩ything before drawing 7 new cards. However, you might have already spotted the loophole.
If Professor Oak is the only card in your hand, you just draw seven cards. Hopefully, you can use all the cards in your hand quickly so you can throw down the Professor. Now combine 𒅌this with Blastoise so you can get rid of all of your energies in your hand and you have one of the best decks in the first generation.
