Evolution is one of the main draws to collecting Pokemon. Most players do not blink when it comes to evolving their partners. Typically, evolution means drastically increas♊ed speed, attack power, and durability.

However, there are some Pokemon that do not follow this rule. Some retain more utility when left in their pre-evolved state - others are just outright downgrades from their previous stage. So 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:get out your Eviolite, and prepare to leave evolution in the dust.

10 Clefairy

A group of Clefairy dancing in their cave

Introduced in Generation One, Clefairy was initially a single-stage Pokemon. As the years went on, Clefairy got Cleffa as its ♎first st🅠age evolution, and then Clefable as its final tier form.

It just so happens, however, that Clefairy is often the most useful of the three 🌠forms in battle. With Eviolite equipped, it gains unparalleled durability. It also♔ has access to pressure moves like Stealth Rocks, and Toxic. The durability you lose when switching over to Clefable is not worth the small Special Attack boost, as neither of these pokemon is meant to be offensive anyway.

9 Scyther

Scyther from Pokemon Red and Blue in a Forest

Bug lovers may call this entry heresy, but Scyther has many adva🌱ntages that its evolution Scizor does not. While it can never be said that Scizoꦺr is a useless Pokemon, its weaknesses are glaring.

Scyther is one of the fastest Pokemon at 105 base Speed. Scizor drops to a miserable 65, and it gains a quadruple weakness to Fire. Scizor tries to have access to priority moves to make up for this, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:but even with the Technician ability, this is often not enough to KO opponents. A Scyther with Eviolite, or Met♊ronome as its held item can be an extreme threat, especially since it has access to Dual Wingbeat.

8 Charjabug

Charjabug crossing a City street from Pokemon Sun and Moon

Charjabug had such great potential. An Electric-Bug Pokemon was just what the community was asking for. Unfortunately, what arriꦫved was wholly underwhelming, which seems to be a theme with Bug-Pokemon in the series.

Vikavolt is an incredibly slow Pokemon by Electric standards. It stands very little chance to outspeed an opponent, and its weakness to Fire makes it nearly impossible to use in a competitive format. Instead, try using Charjabug 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:in a double battle format. It has access to the Battery ability which can make ♏allies hit harder in Double formats.

7 Galarian Corsola 𒊎

A group of Galarian Corsola under the seas from Pokemon Sword and Shield

Corsola has been in the Pokemon roster since Generation Tw🅘o. Generation Eight saw it gain a second-stage evolution in Cursola. Seeing the sheer power of Galarian Corsola on the battle field will make you believe that Corsola should have stayed a single-stage evolution.

Corsola's role on the field is as a health-sapping tank. This Pokemon has access to Strength-Sap and Haze. If you didn't know, these moves synergize by restoring health to Corsola based on how much Attack was drained by Strength Sap. Haze resets stats changes to zero even negative ones. In other words, Corsola can infinitely suck health from foes while inflicting them with Toxic for damage. Corsola is also virtually indestructible with incredibly high Defense and Special Defense, unlike its evolved form.

6 Type: Null ♍

Type: Null fighting a Lycanroc in the Pokemon Anime

This is a Pokemon that🐼 many people overlook, much to the 🐠relief of the competitive community. Type: Null evolves into Silvally which is an inferior Pokemon in every respect.

Silvally loses much of its defenses when it evolves, and loses the precious ability of Battle Armor. Type: Null can also hold onto Eviolite for extra defense, unlike Silvally. While Silvally may technically have higher Attack Stats, Type: Null has access to Rest, Sleep Talk, and Swords Dance. This means that 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:it can use a creative strategy to max out its Attack while constantly refilling its hဣealth.

5 Porygon 2

Porygon 2 from Pokemon Gold and Silver on a Code background

Porygon 2 is one of those Pok🦩emon that eclipses its evolution so entirely, you will almost never see it in competitive formats. It makes sense, as Porygon 2 has every a🅷spect you need in a battling Pokemon. Whether it be defense or setting up for a devastating attack, Porygon 2 is going to be a better bet.

This is because it has much higher Defense and Special Defense stats than Porygon Z, whil🅠e only losing 30 points in Special Attack. This can be remedied by a simple Nasty Plot. This is not even taking into account giving Porygon 2 Eviolite, which will further bossts its defenses.

4 Vigoroth

Norman's Vigoroth from the pokemon Anime

Vigoroth is vastly superior to its evolution, Slaking, all because of a simple ability. Slaking always gains the ability Truant, which causes it to skip its turn every other turn. This is to balance its through the ♛roof Attack stat.

Vigoroth is not disadvantaged by this ability, and is fairly fast, despite its sloth inspiration. Vigoroth isn't an incredible Pokemon by any means, but it can actually be used, which is more than can be said for Slaking. If you are interested in trying to get Slaking to work however, consider taking it to Double Battles and using Entrainment to give its ability away.

3 Chansey

Chansey from Pokemon Red and Blue standing on a Pagoda

Chansey is a rare case of a Pokemon that can be good in both evolutions, but it depends on the situation. Chansey has one of the highest Special Defense stats in the game. On the other hand, Blissy has one of 𒅌the highest Defense stats in the game.

What this means is that the player has to make strategic dꦑecisions as to which Pokemon to bring into battle. A Chansey against a team of Gyrados would be useless, whereas 💞a team of Blissey would be useless against a team of Porygon Z. Chansey can be better than Blissey in the right circumstances. It is up to you to know when to bring one or the other.

2 Dusclops

Team Rocket's Dusclops from the Pokemon Anime featureing Jesse, James, And Meowth in the background

Dusknoir is a bit of a lackluster Ghost-type. It fills a niche of a sort-of tank and a Physical Damage dealer, which isn't usually what you look for in a 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:powerful Ghost Pokemon. When choosing Pokemon it is best to jump headfirst into a damage dealer or♕ a tank, but not to try and synergize the two like with Dusknoir.

Du🍸sclops is a very healthy tank and has access to Shadow ball to dole out some punishment. Dusclops is a great support Pokemon that can come in and Burn opposing Pokemon, and followꦛ up with a Hex for increased damage.

1 Pikachu

Pikachu from Pokemon Red and Blue sitting on a Bench

Everyone's favorite yellow mouse should be no surprise to see on this list. As the official mascot of the Pokemon series, Gamefreak has an obligation to keep this little guy relevant, no matter how the competitive scene changes.

In the case of Pikachu, a nifty little item called the Light Ball was introduced. This Item only works when held by Pikachu, and it doubles the Attack and Special Attack of the Pokemon. This means that this Generation One Pokemon can still stand up to the likes of Spectrier and Zacian with ease. It also means that R🦹aichu is effectively a useless evolution. How sad.
