Generation 1 of Pokémon 🍒is where the franchise began, and players have many fond memories from th𓆏eir childhood about experiencing the original Kanto region. Although generation 1 can be very nostalgic for a lot of players, it also lacks a lot of features that current Pokémon games have put forth.
The weird Pokémon designs and the boring, evil team of generation 1 are a few of the things that fans will find to be lacking in Kanto. Generation 1 may ꩵbe the first of the franchise, but that doesn'🍌t mean it was perfect at all.
10 Team Rocket Are Very Boring Vil🐈lains
Team Rocket is iconic to the Pokémon fr🌸anchise; however, in general, they're very boring and have🎐 few distinct traits compared to other evil teams such as Team Plasma and Team Galactic.
It's evil easily overlooked that Team Rocket is so boring because many players don't want to admit that their favorite generation has one of the simplest plots. Giovanni is also notably very boring, and his motivations are always somewhat unclear, which is why Team 𝓰Rocket just isn't cut out t꧅o be one of the best evil teams.
9 A Lot Of T🎃he Pokéܫmon Are Really Weird
A lot of players often complain about the P🃏okémon in newer generations that are weird looking and based on inanimate objects. However, Pokémon, such 💞as Voltorb and Muk are both from generation 1, and they are very basic and boring in design.
A lot of players don't want to admit that some of the weirdest and most basic designs for Pokémon come from generation 1, and that is unfortunate beca꧃use it leads players to believe that the newer gไenerations are much worse in terms of design.
8 Theꦰre Is A Lack Of Regional Legend♕aries
Although there are four legendaries in the Kanto region, this is much less then other generations moving forward. These legendaries include Moltres, Articuno, Zapdos, and M👍ewtwo. Mew also exists; how꧟ever, it is classified as a Mythical Pokémon.
It's also notable that there aren't technically any regional legendaries similar to Lugi🧜a or Ho-Oh found in generation 1. This is likely because the developers didn't yet know how they wanted to plan each Pokémon game out; however, it doesn't change the fact that it is onꦆe of the important features lacking in generation 1.
7 There Is Only One Evolutionary Line For Both The Ghost-type And Drago🌠n-type ༒
The Ghost-type and Dragon-type🅠 in Pokémon are loved by so many fans, and many players even regard the two types as their favorites. The fan-favorite status of these two types makes the fact that there was only one evolutionary line for each of them in Kanto🍸, an unfortunate fact.
Fans will only find the evolutionary line of Dragonite and Gengar while exploring the Kanto region, and the generation, in general, seems to be lacking in terms of design for these two types. Most players nev🎉er even acknowl🧜edge how few pokemon there were for the Dragon-type and Ghost-type in generation 1 in it's one of the worst things about Kanto.
6 There Is🍌 No End Game Content
In the original generation 1 video games, fans had barely any൲thing to complete after defeating the elite four. Although players could catch the previously mentioned legend⛄aries and complete the Pokédex, that was the bulk of the end game.
Considering that generation 2 had a much larger endgame than the generation 1 games, fans often overlook how much this is lacking in the original Kanto games. Luckily when the generation 1 games got remakes, LeafGreen and FireRed, there was🔴 considerably more end𝓡 game content to complete in the form of the Sevii Islands.
5 🐬 Mewtwo Doesn't Make Sense
Mewtwo is one of the most well-regarded legendaries in the Pokémon franchise to date, and it's no surprise because it has such a cool design andꦓ powerful Psychic-type attacks.
However, even though many fans love this legendary, Mewtwo doesn't hold up to a lot of other Pokémon in terms of logic. Mewtwo was created in a lab; however, there is very little information about how this process occurred and how the scientists ever obtained the DNA of Mew. Co♑mbine this with the fact that Mewtwo is able to speak the human language through telepathy; fans are quite c൩onfused when researching about this Pokémon.
4 There Are Only 151 Species O🐻f Poké🍨mon To Catch
Every other region since generation ꧒1 has had more🌠 than 151 creatures to catch on the player's journey. However, Kanto only has 151 species of Pokémon residing within its environment that players can obtain, and this is very lacking when compared to other generations.
It is surprising that fans don't seem fazed at this at all because players were very upset when Sword and Shield had a limited number of Pokémon; however, the fanbase didn't mind as much when the Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee only had 𝓀the original 151. Although there is a difference because that was technically a remakꦜe, a lot of fans do not realize just how limited the selection of Pokémon in generation 1 really was.
3 ꧅ Kanto Has Very Repetitive Rou✱tes And Cities
The routes and cities in are very repetitive, and they all lo🍌ok very similar to each other, which can cause players to get bored of them very quickly. The lack of different environments in generation 1 is rivaled by no other generation, and that makes the terrain in Kanto very boring.
Fans of 𒐪generation 1 often overloo🌱k how repetitive the routes can get after playing through the entire game because they have fond memories of traveling down them during their childhood. Although there are interesting locations in Kanto, such as MT Moon and Cinnabar Island, most of the environments look very similar to the rest of the game.
2 ꦦ Playing With Friends Was Hard 💜
Playing with friends in generation 1 was a difficult experience that required a link cable to be connected to both Gameboys. This made it very difficult to play with other players, especially when stuck at home on a 🐎rainy day and is much different than the Wi-Fi-based battles that players can now experience.
It's not especially surprising that fans weren't able to play together through the internet back in generation 1, but it is something that is lacking in the games that are currently present in modern﷽ iterations of the franchiseᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚ.
1 The Gen-I Games Were Full Ofဣ Bugs 💃
There were many different bugs in generation 1 of Pokémon, such as the Missingno glitch that most pꩵlayers have heard about. With all these different bugs, it could become quite annoying for players that were trying to have a smooth experience and play through the game without any issues.
Occasionally glitches can be fun and add unique ways to play a game; however, in the case of Pokémon Red and Blue, these glitches were usually very annoying. It's easy to forget how many bugs the generation 1 games had because they re💛leased so many years ago; however, it's definitely one of the worst things about the 🅰generation.
