If you're a fan, you're probably familiar with the Attack and Special Attack stats. Every attack ability in Pokemon is designated as either an Attack or Special Attack, and while the conventions have changed over the years, it's always been pretty simple to figure out what types of attacks are considered special and which aren't. In , Attack and Special Attack are very important stats, but unfortunately, it's much harder to determine which attack types are considered special. In fact, there's nothing in-game that explains which attacks are which, and it's only by testing through practice mode that players have been able to suss out what stat type each ability actually is.

If you're wondering which Pokemon Unite abilities are Physical Attack and which are Special Attack, you've come to the right place. While we aren't able to determine a definitive rhyme or reason for each designation, we can at least tell you which Pokemon use Special Attacks and which ones don't so you can make sure to give them the correct held items.

What's The Difference Between Physical Attack And Special Attack?

Unlike most Pokemon games, Attack and Special Attack have nothing to do with the actual type of attack being used. You might think Flamethrower is a special attack and Air Slash is a physical attack, but it actually doesn't work that way. Instead, every Pokemon in Pokemon Unite uses either attack or special attacks exclusively except for their auto-attack. The first two hits of every auto-attack for every Pokemon is physical, while the third hit for most — but not all — are considered special. It sounds confusing, but if you can remember which Pokemon are physical and which ones are special, you're most of the way there.

Special Attacks don't get a lifesteal bonus, but they do, on average, scale a lot better with held items. Muscle Band is a Physical Attack item that grants an additional 3% damage, while Wise Glasses give 7% more damage to special users.
