When Pokemon D🔜iamond & Pear🅷l launched, director Junichi Masuda visited the United Nations and other areas around New York City. Inspired by the harmonious communities he traveled through, Masuda decided to take the series in a bold new direction. The new Unova region would be the first to not be based on an area of Japan, but rather the most populated city in the United States.
The choice came with massive success, especially with North American gamers who could relate to the familiar areas of Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Queens. As New York City covers many areas and communities, some nearby 🉐areas in the state of New Jersey were also included.
10 ꦇ Nacrene City - Dumbo, Brooklyn
The name Dumbo is actually𓂃 an acronym for Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass. This neighborhood of approximately 5,000 is exactly where it is advertised, underneath the Manhattan Bridge.
In Unova, this would be the nearby S🌌kyarrow Bridge w♎hich is to the northwest of Nacrene City in-game. Dumbo is known for being an artsy little community, which is accurately reflected by the Café Warehouse and Gym Leader Burgh's frequent visits to the city.
9 Castelia City - Downtown Manhattan Area𓂃, Manhattan
The Battle Company, Passerby Analytics HQ, The Medal Office, and even Game Freak themselves are set up in Castelia City, the business center of Unova. This also rings true in the real world, as Downtown Manhattan is known for being the 🧜business center of New York.
Perhaps one of the most obvious lo🅷cations to visit in New York, it is hard to deny the many similarities Manhattan shares with Castelia. Even adding the Castelia Sewers in Black 2 🐻& White 2 demonstrated quite the attention to detail when properly representing this area.
8 Nimbasa City - Midtown Manhat🧜tan Area, 🌌Manhattan
When tourists think of visiting New Y♈ork, it usually conjures images of the Midtown Manhattan area. The iconography of Broadway and Madison Square Garden is reflected in Nimbasa's o♓wn Musical Theatre and Big Stadium.
The Gear Station could be a nod to Manhattan's Grand Central Station, and the nearby Join Avenue is possibly inspired by the Manhattan Mall. As the real-world location of the Empire State Building and its lightning rod, it comes as no surprise that the Nimbasa Gym Leader 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:specializes in Electric-types.
7 Village Bridge - Robert F. Kennedy Bridge, Manhattanꦚ, Queens, & The Bronx
The Village Bridge is one of the most unique 🎀places in the Pokemon games. While not officially a settlement, several people and Pokemon have made homes there. In the real world, the Village Bridge may be based on the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge, also known as the Triborough Bridge.
The area itself is actually a complex of three different kinds of bridges, connecting Manhattan, Queens, and The Bronx. The bridge which connects M♑anhattan to Randalls Island is the largest vertical-lift bridge in the world.
6 🌸 Mistralton City - Teterboro, New J🎶ersey
If there's one thing Mistralton City and Teterboro, New Jersey have in common, it's the insanely low population. In Black & White 2, Mistralton City i🧸s home to about 30 residents.
The borough of Teterboro is home to about 70, even though oveꦬr 1,000 people work at the Tꦐeterboro Airport. The airport takes up the majority of land in Teterboro, much as the plane strip and Mistralton Gym do in the games.
5 Undella Town ꦍ- The Ha🔯mptons, Suffolk County
Undella Town is actually linked geographically to Jamaica, a midd🤡le-class neighborhood in Queens. This is further evidenced by the nearby Undella Bay, which is also linked to Jamaica Bay estuary.
However, it appears that the style of the town itself was largely influenced by The Hamptons, one of the most popular summer retreats for the wealthy. This is referenced by the presence of The Riches and Caitlin's villa, where Cynthia (yikes!) stays during the spring and summer.
4 ꧅ Virbank City - Jersey City, New Jersey
One of the most beloved new locations in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Black & White 2, Virbank is to the southwest of Castelia City, exactly as Jersey City is to Downtown Manhattan. Various ferry services provide transp𓃲ortation between the two areas, unlike the games which only had one captained by Roxie's dad.
Jersey City is the second-largest city in New Jersey next to Newark. The nearby Virbank Complex resembles Jersey City's industrial areas. While the fil🅘m industry isn't necessarily gigantic in Jersey, it is known for its arts & culture, which may have inspired the nearby PokéStar Studios.
3 ♓ 🌃 Humilau City - Long Island, Suffolk, and Nassau Counties
Humilau City is uꦦndoubtedly a culmination of areas in and around Long Island, one of New York's most populated areas. Known for its beautiful beaches and seaside living💞, several communities in Long Island could be compared to Humilau City.
The boardwalk surrounding the households could be a nod to Rockaway Boardwalk, although Jones Beach is also a possibility. In any case, the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Water-type Gym in Humilau is an obvious choice for Long Island.
2 Nuvema Town - Howard Bea෴ch, Queens ♋
Though it may not be completely geographically accurate, the community of Howard Beach is a middle-class neighborhood mostly comprised of single-family households. In-game, this is refle✃cted by the player's, Bianca's, and Cheren's fami🐓ly homes being located here.
The positioning of the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Juniper Pokemon Lab here may be a reference to the Howard Beach branch of Queens Library. As the community is named Howard Beach,👍 it is close to the water, as is Nuvema Town to Route 17.
1 ꩵVictory Road - Bronx Park, The Bronx
Bronx Park consists of two major areas; the Bronx Zoo and the New York Botanical Garden. Bla꧟ck & White 2's Victory Road seems to be a hybrid of these two places. The forested landscape appears quite similar to the paths of the garden, while the Pokemon within are a nod to the zoo.
Comparisons have also been made between the architecture of the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Pokemon League building and the domes of the garden's greenhouses. The entrance to the Cham♊pion's chamber, in particular, looks much like the LuEsther T. Mertz Library, located in t𒊎he northern section of the garden.
