Pokémon battles are typically grueling affairs which pit might against might, as opponents exchange attacks and fight for Poké-supremacy. Thus, having a Pokémon tha🌼t packs a punch offensively is usually a crucial element to coming out on top.
Sure, you've got the factors of Defense and Speed, which allow you to overwhelm your opponent in a roundabout way. Yet, ultimately, having a potent Attack stat 𝓰is important, since the vast majorityꦦ of Pokémon come equipped with basic attacks that you'll be using quite a bit.
As such, it's important to hone in on which these mo🍒nsters are the🤪 most lacking in this department. Whether they're built more for other traits like Defense or simply just too small to make a dent, these are the top 10 Pokémon with the absolute worse base Attack.
10 Togepi
Many old-school Pokémon fans remember this little guy as the result of a hatched egg that Misty obtained in the anime, as well as being one of🅠 the first revealed outside the original 151.
Yet, desp🧔ite the novelty of this egg-like creature, it comes with a pretty tepid Attack stat that puts a damper on it. Thanks to its ability to retreat into its remaining shell, it at least comes laced with a solid Sp. Defense, though you typically don't want to rely on Togepi in battle when it comes to firepower. Its base Attack stands at just 20.
Though one shouldn't expect a Pokémon with such a joyful nature to be🐽 much of an offensive threaജt.
9 Ledyba
Given the small build of many -type Pokémon, one shouldn't expect these varieties to deal a to♓n of damage as a whole. Yet, this is particularly the case with this ladybug-esque critter. Despite its relative size compared to an actual ladybug and its legs laced with what look like boxing gloves, Ledyba looks more intimidating than it is.
It perhaps makes sense that its bas🐠e Attack sits at just 20, sin🌟ce it sports some small, stubby legs, and grows timid and afraid rather easily.
8 Abra
There's a reason this swift, elusive Psychic-type is so hard to catch, constantly fleeing in battle. It doesn't exactly have the muscle to defend itself with. Not only is its Defense pretty rough at 15, but i𓆉ts base Attack does little to make up for this, with a mere 20. This guy doesn't hold a ton of use outside of sleeping and teleporting, as its telepathic powers is a drain that causes Abra to🅠 snooze quite a bit.
Still, you'll want to make the effort and evolve Abra ෴into a Kadabra, and eventually an Alakazam by trading, 🌞as these evolved variants are much more potent.
7 Metapod
As you would imagine from a cacoon-like Pokémon with limited means of attack,ᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚ Defense is Metapod's main game above all else, along with HP.
Unfortunately, these qualities tend to get somewhat negated given this shelled-creature's limitations elsewhere. Not only does it sport💮 few useful attacks, but even the few that you will be able to bust out aren't going to do much. That's because Metapod, like the others listed so far, only comes with a 20 base Attack.
Basically, this guy's little more than a stepping stone to blossom into the more useful aꦡnd visually appealing Butterfree. Luckily it evolves at the low level of 10 anyway.
6 Feebas
You can somewhat look at this feeble Feebasꦏ as the Generation 3 version of the similarly weak Magikarp. Like that Pokémon, we're basically dealing with a basic Water🔜-type that's more known for flopping around than being an offensive threat. In fact, his only learned move that can actually damage the opponent is Tackle, which isn't picked up until level 15.
Still, even if you do opt for the ill-advised decision to mount an attack with Feebas, you're likely not going to do much damage. That's because this fish is given a meager 15 base Attack. You'll definitely want to get this guy's Beauty condition high enough to evolve 🌺it into the much stronger and more interesting Miloti🌠c.
5 Blissey
Sure, Blissey might make💜 for a good healer, and an even be💧tter helper for Nurse Joy. Unfortunately, though, this unique, cheery Normal-type isn't going to be too useful when it comes to basic attacks. Thankfully, its stats outside of basic Attack and Defense are actually admirable, especially its whopping 255 base HP.
But if you do opt for Blissey, you'll want to stress healing, defensive moves, and Special Attacks first and foremost. It's stubby arms and feet aren't exactly going to pack a punch in battle. Its base Attack sits at a pretty brutal 10.
4 Shuckle
One shouldn't exact☂ly expect much from a Pokémon that resembles a slow-moving turtle which frequently retreats into its shell. Thanks to this hard red sh𒆙ell, Shuckle certainly has it going on in the way of Defense and Sp. Defense.
Yet, its weak base Attack (10) and even weaker base Speed (5🔜) means that you won't want to opt for this Bug/Rock-type in battle much unless you're going up against a weak Normal or Poison Pokémon. Basically, it'll be a wa𓆉r of attrition when fighting with Shuckle.
3 Magikarp
Ah yes, the ultimate paradox of a Pokémon. On the one hand, Magikarp eventually evolves into the massive Water beast known as Gyarados, who can blast opponents into oblivion with moves like Waterfall. On the other hand, though, you'll first have to deal witꦇh this rather useless flopping fish for the first 20 levels.
On the off chance you actually sport an offensive move with Magikarp in the first place, you're not going to inflict much damage. Specifically𒉰, we're dealing with a mere 10 base Attack.
Put simply, there's a reason James of Team Rocket was conned into buying one of these guys on the St. Anne early in the show's run. Most just aren'tဣ going to find a use for ♕it, outside of eating it.
2 Chansey
This mainstay of the games and anime always manages to be delightfully cheery and warm, and a welcome bringer of items and healing eggs in Smash Bros.
Unfortunately, there aren't many other redeeming traits to this Pokémon other than its beefy HP (250) and Sp. Defense (105). Basically, Chansey is built more for survival than actually inflicting damage. If you do decide to opt for this Normal-type as an offensive weapon, you'll want to at least bust out stronger moves like Egg Bomb and Double-Edge, as its normal base Attack clocks in a just 5.
1 Happiny
If you thought this Pokémon's third evolved form of Blissey was weak, its toddler stage manages to do it one better (well technically worse) in terms of base Attack. And unlike its ol𝕴der brother Chansey, it doesn't real🐎ly make up for this weakness in other areas other than perhaps Sp. Defense (65).
Despite being shown as being abnormally strong in the anime by lifting heavy objects above its head, its in-game stats don't exactly fall in line with these traits. In fact, Happiny only comes with a measly 5 Attack, which is the same nꦕumber as its Defense, making it a liabili♋ty in most areas.
