Xerneas has been a part of the Pokemon franchise since Generation VI, being introduced as the Fairy-type Legendary in the Pokemon X & Y. Xerneas appears as a giant stag-like Pokemon with four enormous pairs of antlers, and can change its coloration based on two differing modes; Neutral and A▨ctive.

The user has to charge on the first turn, but then on the second, sharply raises its Special Attack, Special Defense, and Speed by two. Xerneas' design could be based within many mythologies, with its name possibly referring to the life-giving deity known as Cernunnos of Celtic mythology.

Other interpretations could be the Eikþyrnir of Norse mythology — a stag which resides in Valhalla with glowing horns — or the sacred deer of the Kasuga shrine of Buddhist mythology.

In the end, it was actually designer Yusuke Ohmura that🎃 stepped in to help them reach the appearance they have today, with Sugimori placing the finishing touches on them before completion. As of today, Sugimori states tꦚhat when looking back on Pokémon X and Y, these two always stand out for giving him such a hard time.

Xerneas and Yveltal are known as the Pokémon of Life and Destruction respectively, but when resting lie dormant in Tree and Coܫcoon forms for hundreds of years. In Pokemon X 's Pokedex entry for Xerneas, it's stated that "Legends say it can share eternal life. It slept for a thousand years in the form of a tree before its revival."

Yveltal and Xerneas are known for these great battles with Zygarde, which is known to reverse both their auras with its ability Aura Break in order to stop them. It was thought we might see more of this trio's story, if we had ever seen the release of Pཧokeꦯmon Z, as fans call it.

Xerneas has two modes it can transform int🀅o — Neutꦯral and Active.

In Neutral Mode, its markings appear as pale blue and its antlers🌳 (and their embellishme🌼nts) are also varying shades of blue. In Active Mode, its markings and antlers turn pale gold, and it has multicolored adornments on both its horns and back.

Oddly, whilst in this Neutral Mode, it is the only Pokemon within the Pokémon Camp to not play with the Poke Toy, as it lacks animation. Similarly, in the Isle of Armor or Crown Tundra if whistled to, it will also give the trainer ൲no reaction.

Pokemon Trainer Y, or 'Yvonne,' in the Pokémon Adveꦚntures manga series actually 🐻caught a Xerneas, which she nicknamed 'Xerxer'.

Xerneas appeared in Vaniville Town battling Yveltal and causing destruction before both returned to their dormant forms. Team Flare sought out Xerneas' life-giving power for their ultimate weapon, and when it turned back to normal and looked for a human to capture it, they then attempted to t🔯ake it for themselves.

Luckily Y chose to take Xerneas for herself, with it being a part of her team until turning back into its tree form lat෴er on alongside Malva's cocooned Yveltal.
