Pokkén Tournament first launched for arcade systems in Japan in 2015, and then received home console versions in the forms of a Wii U and Switch version respectively. The premise is simple, in fact all you need to know about the game is in its name. Pokkén takes elements of the Tekken series and mixes them in with Pokémon characters🧸.
The game’꧟s roster has expanded quite a bit with each version, and the Switch game has the complete roster to date available. The game has some pretty interesting Pokémon aꦓvailable to play as, with some strange choices in there as well. With that in mind, let’s look at the first Gen and examine which Pokémon would be a fit for the game, and which just wouldn’t make sense.
10 ܫ ꧒ Need To Add: Alakazam
The game already has Mewtwo in it, so why not add in a🎐not🍬her Psychic-type in Alakazam? Though it might not be the most physical Pokémon out there, Alakazam seems like it should be included in this crossover event.
Its moveset would be an interesting one. As it would probably rely on ranged attacks and would allow for the developers to get pretty creative with its animations. O🃏ne has to wonder why it hasn’t made it into the game yet.
9 Make No Sense: Beedrill ✤ ൩
Beedrill is a memorable Gen I Pokémon, and fan support would certainly be there if it did make it onto the ro꧋ster. But when you picture it in the game it🃏 just doesn’t seem like a practical choice when you have so many other options available.
Given its anatomy and fighting ﷽style, Beedrill doesn’t seem to fit in with most of the other characters on the roster. It could maybe work as a support Pokémon, but that’s it.
8 🐓 Need To Add: Golem
When you think of tough, hardnosed Gen I Pokémon, Gole𒆙m should spring to mind. It might not look like it would fare too well in a fight because of its small arms, but Golem has other means of taki🌺ng care of business.
You can only imagine how cr🉐eative the developers 🙈would have to be to make this character work in game, but if done well it would be well worth it.
7 Make No Sense: Pidgeo🎃t ꧙
Pidgeot is certainly one of the more recognizable Gen I Pokémon out there. It even got a Mega Evolution, which signifies just how it’s managed to stay relevant in the decades since its introduction. But one game it wouldn’t really fit into is Pokkén.
🐈You can only imagine how awkward fighting with Pidgeot would be. It’s hard to picture it in action, as most Flying-types aren’t exactly built for a fist fight. This is another one that’d be great as a support, but not much else.
6 💞 Need To Add: Nidoღking
When you think of Gen I Pokémon that have to be added to Pokkén, Nidoking should jump🌟 stꦅraight into your head. The intimidating Poison/Ground-type certainly looks the part, and would be more than able to handle itself.
Nidoking would be a fun and punishing fighter to play as, and you can easily picture just how much havoc it’d wreak ♒at any given time.
5 ღ Make No Sense: Golbat ꦬ
This is yet another perfect example of a Pokémon that would be perfectly fine in a support role, but not on the 🌳main roster𝄹. Or even not in the game at all. With te roster unlikely to expand that much more, you can’t really justify adding in Golbat.
The same issues🔜 that present themselves with Pi🌟dgeot are there with Golbat. It just wouldn’t fit in with the mechanics of the game.
4 ꦗ Need To Add: Marowa🐎k
Cubone is already in the game as a support, so why not add in Marowak and make things come full circle? Marowak would be an awesom🎶e addition to the game.
It’s a born fighter, and certainly has the tools to get by in the arena. Marowak would offer players wi🍌th a unique and interesting c🧜haracter to play, alongside some of the other standouts on the roster.
3 ൲ 🌜 Make No Sense: Dugtrio
Diglet might be in the ꦰgame as a support, but having Dugtrio as an actual fighter just wouldn’t make any sort of sense whatsoever.
You have to wonder what 𓄧Dugtrio’s fighting style would be. Would it burrow underground and come up to attack? That just doesn’t seem very fair, and probably wouldn’t go over well with players either.
2 𒁏 Need To Add: Hitmonlee/Hitmonchan
This is a given. In fact, it’s crazy that either of these Pokémon haven’t made it🎐 into the game. Hitmonlee and Hitmonchan are two of Gen I’s moไst notable fighting types.
The two Pokémon would fit into the game perfectly, and you can picture just how fun they’d be in any given match-up. This inclusion – like all on this list – is a matter of if, b🤪ut it should🎉 really be a matter of when.
1 ꦕ Make No Sense: Ditto
The funniest thing to do would be to add Ditto into this game. Ditto can’t really do anything other than mimic its opponent, so then you have to wonder if that mechanic would just transfer into Pokkén. And it’s exactly that which would make Ditto a useless addition🐟 to the game. Essentially, it would serve as a mirror fighter to ever Pokémon in the game. There’d be absolutely no point in putting it in.
