The entire saga of The One Ring is all the things I like least about 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Magic: The Gathering rolled into one. The constant fretting over the secondary market, people seeing cards as retirement funds over game pieces, and, of course, the whole Willy Wonka fiasco of slipping it into one booster pack like it’s a lottery ticket. It’s hard to deny what was otherwise an excellent set was completely smothered by the fervour surrounding the card, but finally it&rs♏quo;s all over.

Move over Black Lotus, because The One Ring is now officially the most valuable MTG card ever printed, after 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:selling for $2.6 million. And who bought it? None other than rapper Post Malone, in what, shockingly, is the best possible outcome this whole ordeal could&r🏅squo;ve had.

It’s important to acknowledge that this is an obscene display of wealth. Much like Logan Paul buying a sh🦋adowless Charizard for $6 million last year, this is a rich celebrity blowing more money than most of us will make in our entire lives on a bit of cardboard. Postie is infinitely more likeable than Logan Paul, but the sheer amount of money involved in this deal inherently makes 🍃it gross.

Logan Paul Is The Perfect Wrestler And I Hate It

There is another side to the story though: Postie may have spent his pocket money on a card, but for Brook Trafton, the Canadian man who pulled the card in the first place, it’s going to be absolutely lifechanging. Just look at the TikTok of Trafton holding the card, and how much . In the video of the sale, he’s crying while hugging Postie. While we don’t know anything about Trafton, it’s clear that this money and the whole experience of finding the card means a lot to him. Making $2.6 million out of a pack that cost $30 is comparable to a lottery jackpot, and he’s now becom🌜e a part of gaming history as a bonus.

As far as celebrities go, Post Malone is the best one to have bought the card, too. As soon as word got out about The One Ring, everyone hopped on the bandwagon and began hoarding booster boxes, desperate to find it. 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:The Internet’s Res▨ident Knobhole XQC is a prime example, having nothing to do with Magic before his pack-cracking binge, and nothing since. It would have been awful if some scalper or random influencer with too much money and not enough sense got their grubby mitts on the card 𝐆and sealed it away in their private vault of bullshit.

Post Malone on Game Knights

But Post Malone was already a big part of the Magic community long befor🎀e this. For him, this is more of a historical part of 🅷his hobby than just a shiny bauble to put on a necklace. A long-time player, Postie has made multiple appearances on Commander-centric shows like Game Knights, as well as ads for the game, and even being personally involved in the production of two Secret Lair drops.

The five basic lands created as part of the Post Malone: The Lands Secret Lair drop.

He’s shown an under✨standing and appreciation of the game in his appearances, making interesting comments about the balance of cards, showing the thought that goes into his decks, and never once making cringeworthy jokes about the stereotypical Magic player that you’d expect from a less invested ‘celebrity appearance’. He seems like a chill guy who likes Magic, and that’s something I can get behind.

When The One Ring was revealed, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:I made a few predictions of how this whole thing would play out. At the time, I was too cynical to predict what actually happened: someone who appears to be a pretty decent guy finds the card, and then sells it to someone else who also seems a pretty decent guy for an incredible amount of money. The card is in the hands of someone who is likely to stay involved in the community, and although we won’t see it shuffled into Postie’s Sun Quan deck any time soon, we also know it isn’t sat accumulating value in some MTG Financial Arse&rsquoꦬ;s cupboard either.

I’m still not a fan of serialised cards, and I hope we never see a 1-of-1 again. I continue to hate how obsessed we are with how valuable cards are over whether they’re good game pieces. Sadly, I don’t think any of this is going to change any time soon. But I will admit, now that it’s done and dusted, Postie having the card is far better than any of the outco💧mes I could’ve imagined.
