Predator is, of course, a stone-cold classic, a simultaneous homage and critique of the hyper-masculine action films of the '80s and a masterclass in suspense and monster movie-making. With such an iconic extra-terrestrial at the centre of the franchise — complete with a famous over design and an array of cool gadgets and gizmos — it's no surprise that Predator has been the focus of several video games for over three decades now.
As with most sequels to '80s classics, the Predator film series has been a mixed bag ranging from the great (Prey) to ꧒the terrible (The Predator), and the video games have largely followed suit. However, there has not been a complete disaster on par with Aliens: Colonial Marines, and꧑ there have actually been some fun concepts, so stick around for some great Predator experiences.
10 Predator (1987) 💜 🍎
The Predator's first hunt in the video game world came in 1987, and like many games based on films at the time was hardly a revelation, amounting to a fairly generic side-scrolling actioner that (very) loosely followed the movie's plot. However, there's some novelty fun to be had as you play as a pixelated Arnold Schwarzenegger beating up scorpions, aliens and other assorted bad guys that weren't in the film, in between bouts of bizarre yet memorable boss battles with the Predator itself.
9 Aliens Vs. Predꦕator: Requiem 🌳
The sole Predator game on Sony's beloved PlayStation Portable console, Aliens Vs. Predator Requiem was an adaptation of the film of the same name and would receive a similarly negative critical reception. However, the graphics were impressive for a handheld console in 2007 — including during the iconic thermal vision setting — and there were some fun ideas in implementing the Predator's many weapons. The game was also notoriously easy, which could be a plus point for anyone wishing to fulfill their fantasies of a carefree Alien killing spree.
8 ꧑ Aliens Vs. Predator (2010) ⭕
Rebellion, the developers who worked on several Aliens vs. Predator games in the '90s, returned a decade later with a largely solid reboot. The game now featured three interweaving campaigns focused on either Predators, Aliens or humans, complete with Lance Henriksen returning to the franchise as a new member of the Weyland family, as well as a unique multiplayer mode where all three factions were let loose.
While the game has a few problems, this 2010 effort has some of the best Predator gameplay yet - heavily stealth-based, players stalk their prey from the treetops and must tactically switch between three different visions depending on the enemy they are fighting. In homage to their cinematic appearances, Predators can also pe🥃rform a spectacularly gruesome trophy kill including, yes, ripping out spines.
7 Predator: Hunting Groun𝕴ds
As a concept 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Predator: Hunting Grounds is one of the best games on this list as the Yautja h𓆏unterꦍs are a perfect pick for an asymmetrical multiplayer game, but the game was sadly plagued by issues at launch including long matchmaking times, generic Fireteam missions, and questionable graphics.
Thankfully a series of updates have improved on this somewhat, so if you can get past ಌthe steep learning curve (and manage to communicate with your team!) this is a great game with several references to💞 the movies, an expansion of the lore, and some undeniably fun Predator Parkour mechanics.
6 ꧅ Aliens Versus Predator: Extinction ⛄
A real-time strategy take on the Aliens ܫVersus Predator franchise, this monstrous version of Starcraft is an underrated entry in the series. Eschewing the occasionally tiresome base-building mechanics, Aliens Versus Predator: Extinction focuses on unit management and combat with three separate campaigns to play through once again for each faction. There are some AI problems and disappointingly short campaigns, but the three species are imaginativelyဣ implemented — Predators gain honour for each kill which can spawn new units, while Aliens dramatically chestburst from enemies.
5 Predator: Concrete Jungle ✨
An interesting mix of Predator, Mafia and Assassin's Creed, Predator: Concrete Jungle tried to do something different with a highly original story set in mob-era Chicago, following a dishonoured Predator trying to reclaim its status after being robbed of its technology. Concrete Jungle was a valiant attempt to expand the series lore, referencing the previous films, comics and even then-exciting links to Alien, which led to a focus on stealth rather than brutal kills.
While Predator: Concrete Jungle 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:could have been a masterpiece, it was ultimately let down by poor controls, graphics and cameras, not to mention bouts of ridiculousness - but we'd definitely take a Godfather crossover before another Alien mashup.
4 ꦚ Alien Vs Predat🅷or (1994)
Long before an Alien vs Predator film hit the big screen, the two iconic extraterrestrials were duking it out in the early 3D days of home gaming on the short-lived Atari Jag🔯uar. Alien vs Predator may look a bit dated these days, but what it lacks in graphics it more than makes up for in suspense with a chilling soundtrack, some creepy enemy noises and a setting full of dreaꦗd even before the complex fight scenes.
The Predator was the standout creature here, and the game would influence Alien and Predator games for decade𝓰s to come.
3 Alien Vs𒆙. Predatorജ (1994)
Not to be confused with the Atari Jaguar game released the same year, this arcade game from Capcom was the inevitable side-scrolling beat 'em up featuring the two creatures. Luckily this was one of the better games of the '90s beat 'em up craze, mixing the visuals of the Dark Horse comics and the gameplay of Capcom arcade titles to deliver a highly satisfying experience following two humans and two Predators hacking and slashing through Alien hordes.
Alien vs. Predator often appears in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:best beat 'em up lists, and is available on the Capcom Home Arcade.
2 Aliens⛄ Versus Predator (1999) 🌄
Rebellion, the developers behind the hit Atari Jaguar Alien vs. Predator, rebooted their own game with improved 3D tech to give us this 1999 PC release. Once again you can either play as an Alien, Predator or colonial marine as you battle your way across LV-426 and other familiar locations, recreating the urgency and carnage of James Cameron's Aliens.
While there isn't much story in between bouts of bloodshed, the game is done so well with solid visuals, audio and atmosphere that it's easy not to notice.
1 🐈 Aliens Versus Predator 2 (2001)
Monolith Productions took over from Rebellion, which takes everything from the first game and updates it with better graphics, lighting and weapons, along with an actual plot. Set on the fictional planet of LV-1201 there were once again three campaigns which actually crossed over this time, rewarding fans with easter egg꧃s and giving a better experience for the Predator wi꧙th smoother gameplay and more weapon choices.
Alien Versus Predator 2 even took advantage of the then-emerging online gaming industry, adding an eꦏxpansion pack with more missions and a multiplayer mode that was active for years.
