Oh, Prey. You’re such a tease. Just what do you h🅷ave up your sleeve? A new hunk of moon-related DLC? That’s great but… can’t you just𓃲 give us a release date already? Stop with these cruel games. Why did you have to bring R.E.M into it, in the most cryptic of ways?

As fans of this 2017 survival horror FPS (or the 2006 release, of which it’s a reboot) will know, it’s in Prey’s nature to be a little uncanny, a little deceptive, a little just what in heckola’s going on? The game is centered around the sorry situ🎃ation of Morgan Yu, who is creeping around a spacestation dubbed Talos I.

The station is conducting research into a hostile alien collective known as the Typhon, which has (predictably) brokꦬen loose. Yu is left trying to explore this hazardous environment, gradually finding his way deeper into the complex as he unlocks more abilities and slowly edges towards a way out. Along the way, naturally, the Typhon threat makes its presence known in all kinds of painful, totally attacking you sorts of ways, and you have to fight them off.

If the concept sounds a little like a Metroidvania-flavoured Dead Space sort of deal, that’s because it is really. Needless to say, then, there’s a palpable air of mystery and uncertainty about the whole thing, which extends to the game’s PR as well. 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Back in March, the developers were tweeting out cryptic, anagram-based hints that they were working on something; DLC🌸 or an expansion.

Now we have another curious puzzle piece to contend with. As ဣreports, Prey received an update this past weekend, which added a crop of ten hidden achievements. From the sleuthing of Redditor it seems that this was really all the updated added, but it’s super interesting nonetheless. They’re one big tease, you see, as this Steam screenshot reveals:

Secret Patch For Prey Adds R.E.M. Lyrics As Achievements To Tease DLC

That’s right. Together, they read if you believed they put a man on the moon, lyrics from R.E.M’s 1992 hit Man on the Moon. Even more than that, another Redditor, has found a further intriguing little tidbit:✃ certain packs from the game’s Steam download have names, and if you convert the names from binary to ASCII, they read ‘kasmaseesyou.’ Oh, kasma.

It’s bewildering stuff, for sure, but that’s exactly how Prey fans like it. If you’re among their number, you’re sur﷽e to be thrilled that all these baffling hints seem to point to a release for that much-ballyhooed DLC. Anyone for (what seems to be) a trip to the moon?
