Available for both Android and iOS, this is the conclusion of the Layton series that originally released on the Nintendo DS back iღn 2008. It also happens to be the very best game in the series, so this is certainly exciting.
As with both The Curious Village HD and The Diabolical Box HD, this new port features redone visuals to make use of your phone's highe♉r resolution screen. Played i🔯n portrait mode, it perfectly mimics the DS experience by splitting the action between the top and bottom halves. It's also much crisper and the FMVs have been upscaled to look even more beautiful than before.
Starting today, Level-5 is holding an art competition to celebrate the upcoming release of Unwound Future HD. Running until July 31, winners will receive a 1:25 scale replica of protagonist Hershel Layton's office. I almost thought it was an actual buildin🐈g you could live in, but I'll take a small statue.
To enter the competition, you'll need to follow the official () and use the hashtag #Layton3illustration to enter. states that Level-5 will be looking for fan artwork of a game or scene from the Unwound Future that left the biggest impression on you.
Along with that glorious grand prize, five runner-ups will receive a pure gold Professor Layton art card. It comes in a nice stand and features the professor standing in the middle of a 💖clock. It's maybe a little on the nose for the theme of the game, but it's bound to be an immensely rare collectible.
With the original trilogy of Layton titles soon to be complete, it seems that Level-5 will continue porting the series over𝓀 to mobile devices. I'm shocked that a Nintendo Switch port hasn't been considered, but maybe that is on the docket in the near future. Either way, the series was always one of the best puzzle games available on the DS and I'm happy it has the chance to live on for mobile gamers.
