Project Octopath Traveler was one of the first games shown for the Nintendo Switch. While it did eventuall✃y go to PC, it remains one of Nintendo’s bigger console exclusives. Now that team at Square Enix is back🧸 with the same strategy in a new 2D game in 3D.
That is to say they released a demo to the public in the hopes that they can then gather feedback for the final release. Chances are they will launch another demo down the line showcasing their progress on Project Triangle Strategy. Hopefully they can change that name because it is a mouthful. The🅷re are bigger things in this game that need fixing though.
10 ܫ ༒ Autoplay Dialogue
Most games with a lot of text based dialogue usually have the option to let scenes play out automatically. Persona 5 Strikers is a good example that does this well. This game does not have that feature meaning one has to manually skip tౠh🍃rough text boxes as conversations wrap up. It’s not a huge grievance but it would be nice to see upgraded.
9 Skip Story Beats
As of right now these stor🦩y scenes can be fast-forwarded through which is not nothing. That’s a feature many games still do📖n’t opt into.
There is no function to skip conversations entirely though which is a feature that usually is in games. One may want to skip scenes for myriad of reasons like playing the same story twice, 💮o𓆉r someone more interested in the RPG gameplay rather than the story.
8 Text Log
The story in this game is dense. There are a lot of characters and terms used that can be hard to follow. This is just the demo too so who knows how complicated the main game wi𒈔ll get. It would be nice if these conversations had text logs. To bring up Persona 5 Strikers again, that game lets players hit a button in order to scr🎀oll back through what characters just said accompanied by voice work if it was already there.
7 Animated Cutscenes 🎶
The PSP re-release of Final Fantasy Tactics was mostly just the PS1 game’s graphics. The one big addition the port got was animated cutscenes drawn in a🔥 style that fit the game’s theme. That is what this game and its predecessor, Octopath Traveler, lacked. The in-game animations are fine but they still look goofy. Square Enix definitely has the budget for cutscenes since this style is trying to harken back to the PS1 days already.
6 𝓀 🍎 Too Much Story
The final nail in the coffin for story upgrades that this game needs is a better balancing act. One would 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:think Square Enix would be more interested in showing off its gameplay rather than itꦉs text for a demo. It seems someone was thinking the opposite because the few battles in here are about an hour apart each. Hopefully the final game won’t burden players🐟 so much with too much story all at once.
5 🌸 Optional Batt🗹les
One thing that would help balance out the story would be to include optional battles. In the demo there are side stories but they are just literally that, stories. Sometimes they result in a new recruit or item, but there aren’t optional battles in the volume that one would want in a demo. Final Fantasy Tactics certainly has plenty of opportunities for players to relax on the story and instead grind for loot, levels, or 𒁏Gil.
4 Difficulty Setꦗtings
This game, as it says in the beginning of the demo, is not messing around. Like 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Square Enix’s Bravely Default II demos, they too were cranked up in difficulty in the hopes of showing off the battle system at its fullest. It would seem then that based on the intro dialo𝓡gue to this game, difficulty settings wil𒐪l be implanted in the final product. It’s sadly not a given though as many games still don’t offer these options for myriad reasons like Dark Souls.
3 Brighten Up The Viಞsuals
The 2D pixels on 3D pixelated backgrounds is aꦬ cool visual gimmick. It was one of the best things about Octopath Traveler. However, that game had some issues that have carried over into this game as well. The backgrou🐼nds, for one, are too dark. Even what seems to be the brightest of settings can look dingy because of the lighting. TV settings can only do so much so it would be good to see these backgrounds brightened, or touched up in any other way.
2 🌠 Long Loads 🐻
This may not be this demo’s fault, but the load times are not the best. They are only about five to ten seconds at an average, but sometimes th🌠ey appear to be frozen.
Now, this might be because the original Nintendo Switch hardware is struggling to keep up w🔯ith development in its fifth year. Either way the frequent use of loads and the time itself adds up into annoyances however small they may be.
1 🔥 Town Explorati𓄧on
There is some town exploration in the demo. However, it is truncated. Most of the time it seems players will click on a map icon in order to in initiate a battle, or a cutscene. In-between some battles or story beats intel can be gathered but these exploration moments are very brief. This lack of full exploration is common 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:for tactical RPGs so it understand༒able why the full 💝game would not add this feature.
