With the recent release of two PS1 classics being remade on the PS4, Resident Evil 3 and Final Fantasy VII, the word "remake" is on every gamer's brain. The PS1 certainly has been popular in this nostalgic field recently, what with Resident Evil 2 and the remade Crash Bandicoot trilogy making their way to today's consoles. Plus, other games got remade on previous generation's gaming machines, including Metal Gear Solid and Silent Hill.
What other classic Ps1 games on the n🐬ow over two decade old system need a ? How many of them don't need anything done to them at♎ all? That might be the bigger question so it is time to investigate. Here are 5 classic PS1 games that deserve a full-on remake and 5 that should never be touched.
10 NEEDS A REMAKE: Tenchu 2: Birth of the Stealth Assa൩ssins
Since 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Metal Gear Solid is out of the equation, the next best stealth game would be the second Tenchu game.
While a cool ninja game on the PS1, the controls make it a bit harder to go back to than most on the console. A modern day interpretation, like in the style of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, would be grand.
9 SHOULDN'T BE TOUC🌠HED: Castlevania: Symphony Of The Night
This game was the result of pushing the Castlevania games forward with the help of Super Metroid. Ever since Symphony Of The Night came out, the series has remained a MetroidVania phenomenon and never looked back. Well, it technically doesn’t exist anymore outside of the popular 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Netflix anime, but that's besides the point.
In a world of 3D games, Symphony of the Night defied the trend of its time and was 2D. Because of that, it sti🍌ll holds up graphically and gameplay-wise, proving to be just as addictive today as it once was.
8 NEEDS A REMAKE: Wild Arms 2
There aren’t too many Western themed games still out there besides Red Dead Redemption II. The number of RPGs b🌱ased on the genre is even less than that since the Wild Arms series disappeared.
The first game, also on PS1, got a PS2 remake. The ♋same treatment should be done for the second game, but for the modern gene🐓ration as it is regarded as the better of the two.
7 SHOULDN'T BE TOUCHED: Suikoden II
Another Konami game that may not have pushed boundaries graphically was Suikoden II. That said it has some of the deepest R𒆙PG mechanics and con𓆏cepts in the genre.
In order to save the kingdom, players must go around collecting not just p🐼arty members fo🅷r battle, by volunteers for the rebellion’s headquarters as well. The team needs shops and chefs to stay alive. It is still among the best on PS1.
6 NEEDS A REMAKE: Syphon Filter 2
A Syphon Filter reboot and/or belated sequel has been rumored for awhile, but nothing has popped up since the PSP era. This was Sony’s in-house answer to both Metal Gear Solid and GoldenEye, although it only managed to reach the heights of cult classic🔯.
If any of these games deserve a remake, it is the second entry of the PS1 trilogy. It’s time f𝐆or some modern taser roasting action!
5 SHOULDN'T BE TOUCHED: PaRappa The Rapper
PaRappa the Rapper is an incredibly short game. Even if one 🤪is new to it, and thus may not be good at keeping up with the beats, it should only take about an hour to finish.
That said the musiꦇc and quirkiness of the game keep🌃 it as one of the most unique games the system has to offer. Because of that, short length aside, it remains highly replayable today.
4 NEEDS A REMAKE: Mega Man Legends
Mega Man Legends holds up ☂on its own but with a few caveats. Because Capcom used cel-shaded models and colorful design choices, it is incredibly pretty on PS1. Taking Mega Man into the 3D realm of Zelda clones was a gambit, but it paid off.
For fans it is still amazing, but they will also admit the controls, like the camera, could use some work. If Mega Man Legends 3 is not happening then a remake o☂f the original should be just as good if not better.
3 SHOULDN'T BE TOUCHED: Tomba
Another colorful game is Tomba. In this case it was a 2D adventure. It stars a wild jungle boy trying to save the land from invading pigs. Whip them with chains, or bite them in the head. It doesn’t matter as both get🌸 the job done.
Tomba has light RPG elements along with what some may call MetroidVania-like design choices. It is one of the o𒁏dder choices on the list but it remains a cult classic that's perfect the way it is.
2 NEEDS A REMAKE: Final Fantasy Tactics
There's no better way to end this list than with a back-to-back discussion about none other than Final Fantasy. While this game in particular really doesn’t 🔜need a makeover, as the character sprites and gameplay are still great, there are ༒still reasons to do it.
Loads and difficulty balancing are an issue no matter what version one plays it on. Updating the gameplay to reflect modern tactical games would also be interesting like taking a beat from Valkyria Chronicles. As long as Square Enix is remaking Final Fantasy VII, th🔜ey may as well adjust 🐼the games around it as well.
1 SHOULDN'T BE TOUCHED: Final Fantasy IX
They should not, however, touch Final Fantasy IX. Would it be great to see on PS4, or more like PS5? Yes, of course a modern interpretation would be grand🉐. That said this released in 2000 as a very late PS1 gameꩲ. It was actually a month after the PS2 launched in North America.
It was like the system’s swan song and because of that the graphics hold up better than say Final Fantasy VII’s incredibly blocky polygons. Other than that the gameplay and music are still incredible too. True Final Fantasy fans know what this game is capable of.
