Xbox and 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Activision dominated headlines last week. That's because out of nowhere, Micr🍌osoft confirmed it had acquire✤d Activision Blizzard for $68.7 billion. The deal, which is the biggest in the video game industry by quite a margin, isn't expected to be finalized until FY2023. However, Xbox will be hoping the effects of its gargantuan acquisition will begin to take effect right away.

There was evidence of that mere hours after the news broke as Sony's valuation dropped by $20 billion in a single day. That isn't necessarily the kind of change Xbox is looking to instigate, though. What it wants is more people buying its consoles, and more people joining the 25 million subscribers to have already sigღned up for G👍ame Pass.

According to experts at Ampere Analysis, that sort of change isn't going to happen right away. They forecast that the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Xbox Series X|S will sell nine million consoles during 2022, whereas the PS5 will double that and shift 18 million. As highlighted above, the acquisition won't be finalized until well after the end of this year, so perhaps those numbers aren't too worrying for Xbox, at least not yet.

What the gulf does symbolize is the need for Xbox to do something. That's one of many reasons why bringing 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Activision Blizzard under its growing umbrella is incredibly important. Although everyone involved insists Activision's biggest series will continue to be multiplatform, there will be a time when the likes of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Call Of Duty and 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Overwatch become Xbox exclusives. Those two titles alone will ensure more people opt for an Xbox over a 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:PlayStation in the future, let alone the multiple other Acitivion-owned IPs now at Xbox's disposal.

Perhaps the biggest takeaway from Ampere's analysis is that yet again, the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Nintendo Switch will outsell both PlayStation and Xbox's far newer consoles. 21 million units, to be exact. The Switch had a bumper Christmas in the UK, selling 500,000 consoles during the final two months of the year. That allowed it to surpass the PS5 at the finish line to become Britain's best-selling console of 2021.
