Last Friday, June 12, Sony held a Livestream event to showcase the upcoming PlayStation 5. In many ways, the event was the kind of show that gamers have wanted from E3 press conferences for years. There were no weird theatrics, just game trailer after game trailer broken up by short iꦇntroductory presentations by Sony executives and Game Developers. Twenty-one titles - some completely new and some previously announced - were showcased at the presentation and the actual color and shape of the new console was revealed.

However, only five of the games shown on the virtu🍰al stage will be totally exclusive to the PS5. Eight Games will be available on PS5 and PC. Six of the games shown will be on PS5, XBOX Series X, and PC. The exclusivity status of one game is also still unclear. Let’s take a look at which games will be available where and why.

Games That Will Only Be On PS5

Unsurprisingly, all of the games that will be exclusive to the PS5 are either being published by Sony, developed by studios that Sony own😼s outright or is in the process of acquiring, or both. In some cases, Sony also owns the intellectual property rights to the subject of the game.

The biggest splash of the show was Insomniac’sSpider-Man: Miles Morales, which is scheduled for release sometime in 2020. Contrary to rumors, the game is a standalone title, not a DLC to Marvel's Spider-Man. Sony b𝓰oth owns the video game rights to Spider-Man and all Spider-Man related characters and is in the process of acquiring the ga🦂me’s developer, Insomniac Games.

The next game in the long-runningRatchet & Clankseries, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, will also be exclusive to PS5 for much the same reasoಞn asSpider-Man: Miles Morales. The game ꦛis being developed by Insomniac Games, and Sony has published everyRatchet & Clankgame to date.Ratchet & Clank: Rift Aparthas no release window at this time.

Unlike the other PS5 exclusive games,Sackboy: A Big Adventureis not dev🌄eloped by a Sony-owned studio. Sackboy: A Big Adventureis scheduled to be released in 2020.

Games That Will Be On PS5 And PC

The vast majority of games shown at this press conference will be developed by indep𒊎endent studios, have pages on Steam or The Epic Games Store, or have announced that they will be available on PC. Many of these titles are early enough in development that exclusivity deals are still in the works so it’s possible that these may make the jump to Xbox Series X sometime after their initial release. It is also unclear whether all these games will be launched simultaneously on PS5 and PC or if there will be some delay between versions.
