A leading console resale site has revealed it has been selling PS💯5s for around 30% less than it did at launch, while the resale price of the Series X is more or less the same.

Hard to believe, but it has now been ten months since the launch of the PS5 and the Xbox Series X|S. What's even harder to believe is that those consoles still remain incredibly hard to come by for the most part, and it's not just a case of Sony and Microsoft's supply not being able to meet demand. Scalpers buying up stock and reselling next-gen consoles for inflated prices has also been a major contributor to those shortages.

There might be a light at the end of the tunnel for those fighting scalpers, at least when it comes to trying to find a PS5. Leading resale site StockX, which previously revealed 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:🥂it has bought﷽ and resold more than 130,000 PS5s, recently told that i♋ts own resale prices of the newest PlayStation console have dropped 30% when compared to its peak.

StockX claims both the disc version and digital edition of the PS5 were selling for $1000 each during Cyber Weekend 2020. That's more than double the retail price. Compare that to this month where the average presale price of a PS5 through the site is $715. That's almost 30% less than at its peak, and a 10% drop when compared to how much they were selling for in June.

Perhaps somewhat surprisingly, the same cannot be said of the Series X. Even though its StockX price dropped 25% between Cyber Weekend and July, it has returned to just short of its $800 peak. Its average resale price is $725 right now, so slightly higher than the PS5. StockX's senior economist attributes that to the Xbox stock getting replenished less frequently than the PS5.

It will be interesting to see what happens to the resale market as we jump headfirst into the holiday season. Parents without an interest in gaming are likely expecting next-gen consoles to be readily available this Christmas, and they're probably going to be bitterly disappointed. Toshiba has even predicted that 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:shortages could last until 2023 as semiconductors remain incredibly hard to c😼ome by.
