The 2022 Asian Games will take place in Hangzhou, China, from Se෴ptember 10 to 25 next year. The multi-sport event includes many disciplines, including sports such as basketball, baseball, boxing, golf, gymnastics, handball, soccer, fencing, and many more. But the 2022 Asian Games also includes "mind sports". These are🔴 games such as chess, bridge, and the ancient Chinese game of Go, but within this particular bracket is also included esports.

For the &quo✱t;mind sport" of esports there is a new videogame that will join the roster for the esports category. Tencent Games has announced that PUBG Mobile will join seven other esports for the 2022 Asian Games. This will be the first time that the Asian Games include esports as official medals events, with eꦑight videogames featuring.

The reason for this inclusion appears to be that PUBG Mobile is a very popular🎃 multiplayer game in Asia, with millions of fans across the continent. PUBG Mobile will join Arena of Valor, DOTA 2, Dream Three Kingdoms 2, FIFA, Hearthstone, League of Legends, and Street Fighter V as competitions in which athletes(?) can win gold, silver, and bronze medals.

This isn't the first Asian Games to include esports as the 2018 Asian Games, which was held in Jakarta, Indonesia, featured esports but it was only a demonstration sport. Those Games included League of Legends, Pro Evolution Soccer 2018, Arena of Valor, Clash Royale, Starcraft 2, and Hearthstone as demostration events.

The 2022 Asian Games, which are the 19th Asian Games to be held, will be the first to feature esports as an official medal event. Participating countries for the 2022 Asianไ games include as many as 45 countries, such as India, Japan, Thailand, South Korea, Vietnam, Indonesia, Philippines, China (the hosts), Malaysia, Pakistan, and many more.

China is a major esports stronghold, with many millions of esports fans, as witnessed by raucous scenes when local esports team EDward Gaming won the recent League of Legends World 𝐆Champ𝔉ionship finals. The Chinese government is also invested in the esports industry, providing financial and institutional support for the growing sport. It probably shouldn't come as a surprise that the 2022 Asian Games, which is held in a Chinese city, features esports as official medal events.
