7 Obscure

In 1974, The Texas Chains♔aw Massacre came out in theaters. Nearly a decade later, a video game version released for the Atari 2600. In this game, you play as Leatherface (the villain). By today's standards of horror video games, this wasn't anything too scary. In fact, gameplay of The Te𒁃xas Chainsaw Massacre looks anything but scary.

Still, this was new at the time and caused controversy. Now, you can find this Atari cartridge selling for a few hundred dollars. We found a cartridge-only listing for $399.99, and an autoꦑgrap𒊎hed version going for a whopping $3,500.

4 ꦡ Resident Evil: Gaiden

We find the panic feature of Hauntinℱg Ground interesting; when Fiona panics, you won't be able to open the menu and she will move on her own.

2 ꦕ Clock Tower

As mentioned earlier, Clock Tower and Haunting Ground go hand-in-hand. Within the Clock Tower franchise, the first one tends to be the most expensꦐive. Launching in 1997 for the original PlayStation (in North America), copies go for around $100 to $300.

Remember the panic feature we mentioned for Haunting Ground? This mechanic came straight from Clock Tower, as the main character (Jennifer) can enter pan🥂ic mode depending on her health. Clock Tower came out during a time when worldwide releases weren't common. Clock Tower 1 originally launched in Japan (1995), but in 1997, Clock Tower 2 came out. Outside of Japan though, this was just called Clock Tower.

1 Kuon

Kuon is yet another pricey horror game originally for the PS2. This time, the horror ta🐠kes place in a Japanese manor in the Heian period. Interstingly, Kuon was also developed by FromSoftware, who make iconic games like Elden Ring and Dark Souls.

Copies of Kuon are incredibly expensive, with most being around $1,000. Yes, if you want to add the physical version of Kuon to your collection, you will need to spend $1,000. Due to the setting and horror 🐻aspect, Kuo✅n became quite rare in North America, leading to the hefty price tag.
