When the PlayStation 5 was officially unveiled during the PS5 showcase last summer, one of the games that had caught everyone's eye was 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. This was mainly because it had made a killer first impression, as it looked like it would be utilizing the PS5 in ways that simply 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:weren't possible on PS4. The game not only showcased instantaneous shifts between complex scenery, it also boasted a graphical fidelity that seemed almost on par with the wo🧸rks of a full-fledged animation st♏udio like Pixar.

Now that the game is out and in the hands of eager fans around the world (at least those ones lucky enough to have snagged a PS5), the question on most minds is does it deliver on those early promises of unmatched visuals. The short answer is 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:yes, it does. And much like Insomniac Games' other PS5 release, Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, their new game also offers three distinc🌄t graphical options for players to enjoy those visuals. Here's all you need to know about each one.

5 🅘 Day One Patch 𝓀

In a trend that should come as a surprise to pretty much no one, the new Ratchet & Clank game launched with a day one patch. And like other patches of this nature, it brought with it 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:a number of last-minute optimizations that sought to make the game an overall smoother experience for everyone picking it 🔯up on launch day.

The most significant of these is an improvement to the rendering resolution for ray-traced reflections. Prior to the patch, those reflections would render at a quarter of the game's display resolution. So if the game was running at 4K or 2160p, the reflections would 𒁏be capped at 1080p. Now those same reflections look sharper than ever, and thereby more accurately matching their source in overall appearance.

4 120Hz Output 🎉

Also worth noting is the fact that the game outputs at 120Hz, even though the game itself tops✅ out at 60 frames per second. This is twice the standard refresh rate of most televisions available today, but the higher refresh rate helps maintain the overall smoothness of the game during minor frame d🐟ips.

One knock-on effect it has on certain TVs though is that it could force their resolution to drop to 1080p since many of them are still unable to pair a high refresh rate with a higher resolution. To prevent that from happening, just go to the PS5 system settings. Under "Saved Data and Game/App Settings" there is an option for "Game Presets." Make sure Performanc🌺e Mode is not currently selected. Setting it to Resolution Mode will completely disable𓆏 the option for games to run at 120Hz output.

3 Fidelity Mode ꧂

By defauꦗlt, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart runs in Fidelity Mode. This places more of an emphasis on overall graphical fidelity as opposed to performance or frame rate, really pushing the PS5 to deliver all those next-gen visuals promised in that initial showcase. It targets a 4K resolꦯution (or 2160p in raw pixel counts) and a locked frame rate of 30 FPS.

Basically, this is the game running with all the bells and whistles, which includes enhanced features like ray-tracing as well as improved level of detail, scene density and additional VFX. It achieves its target frame rate by implementing some dynamic resolution scaling, with the resolution dropping as low as 1296p in very demanding scenarios. But o♉n average, players can expect a resolution somew🌌here between 1800p and 2160p.

2 Performance Mode 🐟

Next up is the Performance Mode, which pla𝓰ces a greater emphasis on frame rate. And much like the PS5 patch for the 2016 remake of Ratchet & Clank had done, this mode seeks to effectivel🎉y double the game's frame rate from its 30 FPS cap. The target here is 60 FPS, for that buttery smooth gameplay most gamers are after.

To attaiဣn this though, the mode turns off all the ray♏-tracing features in the game, replacing ray-traced reflections with less detailed screen space reflections. It also dials down the level of detail on certain objects, and once again employs dynamic resolution scaling that dips as low as 1080p. Typical gameplay renders somewhere between 1620p and 1800p.

1 💫 Performance RT Mode ⭕

Lastly, we have the Performance RT Mode, which functions as a best of both worlds. It falls somewhere between b𝔉oth prior modes i😼n terms of graphical features, retaining the emphasis on performance without that other Performance Mode's hit to visual quality.

This mode retains the 60 FPS target of the Performance Mode while restoring the ray-tracing features of the Fidelity Mode. The target resolution this time around is 1440p, with dips as low as 1080p through dynamic resolution scaling. But the whole thing never appears to lose any of the wow ไfactor gotten from playing in the Fidelity Mode, making it the preferred way to enjoy the game and its fluid gameplay without too many compromises to its breathtaking visuals.
