You'd think a company that makes most of its products out of plastic would be fairly resistant to acknowledging the threat of climate change, but Razer isn't like that. They know what's at stake, and they've🦹 decided to be a leader in the fight against climate change.
It all started with Razer's n🌌ew Sneki Snek mascot being the figurehead of the company's campaign to save a million trees. And now it's going way❀ beyond that with promising to go 100% renewable by 2025 and 100% carbon neutral by 2030.
“Through our #GoGreenWithRazer campaign led by our Snek𝔉i Snek mascot, the Razer community has been insanely supportive and passionate," said Razer CEO Min-Liang Tan in a press release. "🦋Awareness of how we impact the environment is incredibly important. Hence, Razer has planned out a sustainability roadmap to continue fighting environmental and climate changes. We’re determined to make the world a better place for all of its citizens to game and live in.”
The road to going green starts small, first my eradicating all single-use plastics in its offices and then reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Where Razer can't reduce greenhouse gas emissio🍃ns, it'll invest "in forestry and other environment-imp🐼act projects."
Razer is already we♌ll on its way to achieving its goal of powering all its offices through renewable energy sources. Razer's European HQ in Hamburg, German is already getting all its power from Renewable, and its Singapore HQ will soon follow suit.
But what about the things Razer 🐼makes? Razer's biggest products are all made of plastic, which is a huge contributor to carbon emissions and physical waste.
Well, Razer won't stop making mice and keyboards out of plastics, but they will make all their products out of recyclable or recycled materials by 2030. They've also started of🦄fering free recycling for all products, so if you purchase a new mouse you can give Razer your old one to be recycled into a new product.
All packaging will soon switch to FSC-certified biodegradable materials so that even t🃏he box your new mouse comes in won't wind up choking a seagull to death.
On top of everything, Razer is still committed to its goal of saౠving one million trees, with a new Sneki Snek product appe♈aring at every 250,♚000 milestone. We're currently at 170,000, so just a few more before we see the next Sneki Snek item up for sale with all proceeds going to support Conservation International.
