Tarsier Studios has announced the studio's newest title, Reanimal, a co-op-focused fantastical horror adventure.
Reanimal was announced during tonight's Opening Night Live at Gamescom 2024. At first glance, Reanimal may remind you of Tarsier's other horror series, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Little Nightmares, ✱but according to the developers, the creative direction is very dis✨tinct.
Renaimal is intended to be a more sinister experience than Little Nightmares and one that resembles more♈ closely the darkness of the real world. You play as two orphaned siblings who are searching for their missing friends on a terrifying island.
Cooperative Horror
The name of the game, as well as the promot🎉ional material, suggests a setting where monstrous animals roam free. As in Little Nightmares, the pಞlayer characters feel very small and vulnerable in a large and dangerous world.
One of the themes of Reanimal is adventure, Tarsier is trying to instil a sense of wonder and adventure in players in addition to fostering an ominous and tense atmosphere. With this in mind, you'll be able to traverse the game's island via land and sea. There are sections of Reanimal where you'll be able to hop in and pilot a boat.
Unlike Little Nightmares, Reanimal is largely built around minimalist co-op gameplay. Both players inhabit a shared camera, meaning they can't move too far apart from each other. This was a creative choice by Tarsier as it wanted to facilitate authentic shared experiences, rather than allowing two players to work separately.
Tarsier's senior narrative designer Dave Mervick explained in a press briefing that "going through something awful together" really elevates the experience of horror, a realisation he made while watching horror films.
The third instalment of Little Nightmares is in development at Supermass🐻ive Games, as Bandai Namco own the intellectual rights to the series and Tarsier was acquired by Embracer Group.
Mervick further explained that the co-op aspect of Reanimal was the "secret sauce" that Tarsier's newest project was missing, and when they decided to pursue a cooperative title, the studio became energised about the idea.
R♍eanimal is planned to be released fo𒁏r PC, Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5. There is no current release window.

There's No Good Reason Why Little Nightmares 3 Can't Have Couch Co-Op
Li🥂ttle Nightmares 3 looks excellent, but only having onlin♎e co-op is a big missed opportunity.
