Even with the extra additions from the new DLC, there are still a lot of Pokémon missing from the Galar region. However, the that many Gen IV Pokémon are conspicuously absent suggests that they are being saved for the rumored remakes of Pokémon Diamond & Pearl. A Reddit user has collected data regarding the games, whichཧ hin𝔉ts that Sinnoh remakes are a strong possibility, based on the Pokémon missing from the Galar region.
The Pokémon series has been remaking older titles since Gen III, with Pokémon FireRed & LeafGreen being released on the same system as Pokémon Ruby & Sapphire. Since then, there was Pokémon HeartGold & SoulSilver on the Nintendo DS and Pokémon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire on the Nintendo 3DS. There has been a lot of speculation that Pokémon Diamond & Pearl remakes will be released on the Nintendo Switch, as the mainline series has now ju💖mped to a new console.
Pokémon Sword & Shield launched with around 400 Pokémon and the Expansion Pass will add over two hundred more. The first DLC expansion for Pokémon Sword & Shield (the Isle of Armor) is now available, and fans have worked out what other Pokémon will be added in The Crown Tundra through datamini💎ng the game. As such, we have a reasonable idea of what Pokémon will be coming to the game in the Expansion P💮ass.
It seems likely that Pokémon Diamond & Pearl remakes are on the way, as there is a conspicuous lack of Sinnoh Pokémon in Pokémon Sword & Shield. A user named Poketronus has collated the data from The Crown Tundra datamine with the number of Pokémon already in/out of the game, and there are more Pokémon missing from Gen II and Gen IV than any other generation. The missing Gen II Pokémon also suggest that Pokémon: Let's Go sequels set in the Johto re🐈gion are also on the card𓃲s in the future.
The absent Sinnoh Pokémon might be saved for the inevitable Pokémon Diamond & Pearl remakes, in order to promote battling and trading between the games. This will be helped by introducing new Gigantamax forms for Sinnoh Pokémon that can only be caught in the remakes, as well as Sinnoh forms of Pokémon that debuted in the Galar region.
