E3 is over, but fans are still discussing the many announcements from all the companies. Nintendo unveiled notable games, and even released two of them on the same day the Direct occurred. One of course was Fortnite. The other was an acclaimed indie title named Hollow Knight. Speaking to in a lengthy interview, Nintendo of America President, Reggie Fils-Aimé, discussed the Switch, Nintendo's E3 presence, and even his favorite character in Mario Tennis Aces. Indie games were also brought up, which led to Reggie commenting on Hollow Knight's success on the Switch.

Reggie: "We were able to announce effectively at the close of the Direct that Hollow Knight would be available. And so there, the consumer is able to get at it right away. And I can tell you that Hollow Knight on Switch is doing exceptionally well."

It should come as no surprise that Hollow Knight is doing well on Switch. The game originally released on PC to favorable reviews, garnering an 87 on Metacritic. So, it already had a great reputation prior to being available on Nintendo's console. Now, many more people are experiencing the game for the first time. In fact, the Switch port has been better reviewed than its original PC version. The Switch port has achieved a 90 on Metacritic, meaning that it has "universal acclaim" according to the aggregator .

Although you can find indie games on all the consoles, there has been a notable push for indie content on Switch. Shantae: Half Genie Hero received a special "Ultimate Edition" for Nintendo's console, and perhaps the biggest indie game of the modern era, Undertale, will be arriving on Switch shortly. If you visit the Switch's eShop, you will find that critically acclaimed games LIMBO and INSIDE are available. Clearly, Nintendo has aimed to make its hybrid console a home for the biggest indie titles. Reggie also commented on the steps Nintendo has taken in order to improve curation on the eShop. What's the problem with curation? Waypoint's Austin Walker mentioned that it can be easy to miss a game that isn't "best selling or didn't just come out,"

Reggie: "We've added two new "shelves," essentially two new categories for you to use to find the content you want. One is an overall best selling category. The other one is a digital only best seller, because from a Nintendo perspective we make our products available dual distribution, and an independent developer might not."

Although the Switch is over a year old, in some ways the console is just getting started. As seen in Reggie's state꧂ment, Nintendo is actively 🤪looking for ways to make a player's experience seamless. Nintendo's online service for Switch is launching in September, and there are still quite a few notable games on the horizon, both indie and first-party.

Oh, Reggie says his favorite character to play as in Mario Tennis Aces is Waluigi. Naturally, Waluigi's absence in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate was brought up, and Reggie responded: "We look at all of the feedback and share with the devs and certainly Mr. Sakurai will be aware of the groundswell of support that appeared for a Waluigi. And in the end it's his decision to make." Well, if Rid🎐ley can make it in, Waluigi fans have some hope for the future.
