Developer Remedy has major some major changes to the PC system requirements for their upcoming game Control. If you've looked into the rather demanding requirements for the game and discovered that your rig won't be able to handle it, it's wo🔯rth another look now that requirements have been adjusted quite significantly.

When the system requirements for Control were first detailed, it was without a doubt the most demanding game on the market. It required a GTX 1060 GPU and an Intel i5-7500 CPU, and that was just the minimum. If you were looking to take advantage of the ray tracing features you would need to have a new RTX 2060 or the recommended the RTX 2080. At a cost upwards of $400 for a RTX 2060, Control was going to be pricing out a lot of gamers.

Things have changed, however, and Remedy has announced muc♛h more reasonable system requirements for the game. While it still isn't going to be playable on a budget PC, the minimum and recommended hardware requirements are much more in line with what the average PC gamer has in their machine today. Ray tracing, the new buzz word in video game graphics tech, is a major selling point for Control as it is one of the first AAA games to showcase everything ray tracing has to offer. Ray tracing is the most sophisticated technology for creating light and shadow that has ever exist. It allows light to react realistically in the world and Control features some ray tracing technique that have never been used before such as ray tracing translucent reflectio🍸ns, indirect diffuse light, and contact shadows.

These features effect how light reflects off of different surfaces and textures, how light diffuses through different atmospheric densities and opaque objects, and how shadows change in density and details as they grow further away from the source. These aren't necessarily things that will make players stop and stare in awe, but they create a more complete experience that will help immerse gamers in the world of Control.

Now that the PC requirements have been adjusted, thanks to better optimization most likely, more players will be able to experience what ray tracing has to offer. Control releases August 27th on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Nvidia is currently offering both Control and Wolfenstein: Youngblood for free t🍒o anyone that purchases an RTX series v✨ideo card.
