168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Remnant: From The Ashes might look like Dark Souls with guns, but it's actually quite a different and interesting experience. It's an entirely unique multiverse apocalypse story about "Dre🦂amers", Dragons, and a species of🥃 evil trees called the "Root".

Yes, Remnant, made by Gunfire Games is a bit "out there" conceptually, and Ixillis is concrete proof. This “Guardian” of the Corsus Realm is quite literally a giant moth monster with tentacles that protects the swamp 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:from the evil invading trees. That said, this is actually one of the more difficult and exciting bosses in the game (at least t🍷wo to three times more exciting than Gorefist), so ꦇlet's go through all of its mechanics piece-by-piece andꦜ figure out the best way to beat it.

Updated August 26, 2021, by Jacob Buchalter: With Remnant: From The Ashes getting its very own next-gen graphical update not too long ago, dropping on Xbox Game Pass, and it being a great holdover game for Dark Souls fans until Elden Ring finally comes out, it seemed like a g🥃ood time to re-visit this guide.

The Ixillis boss fight is one of the more unique confrontations in the game, and it has a fair amount of different moves it can use that you might not be expecting. So, we went through, fought the both of them again, and took another look at every attack in their arsenal to get you all prepared for the battle against the Guardian of the Corsus Realm.

What Is Ixillis, Why Do You Fight It, And Do You Even Have To?

Remnant From The Ashes - Ixillis Flying Into The Arena During Its Intro Cinematic

So, what exactly is Ixilli🦂s in terms of Remnant's Story? Frankly, Ixillis doesn't get as much lore as most of the other bosses. In Remnant, each "Realm" has a "Guardian" that protects said Realm from outside forces, such as the Root. The gist of it is that if the Guardian is alive, the Root can't come in. Ixillis XV & Ixillis XVI are the Guardians for the Corsus Realm, a Realm that got expanded upon greatly in the Swamps of Corsus DLC and has one of the𒁏 best Armor Sets of the game hidden within it, the Labyrinth Armor.

But, as im🐻portant as Ixillis and Corsus seem compared to the other Realms, you can actually skip this area altogether. To do this, players simply just have to kill the Undying King instead of working with him, get his Labyrinth Key, and use it to skip right to Yaesha. Granted, yඣou probably shouldn't skip Corsus, but the option is there.

What Do You Get For Beating Ixillis?

Like most of the World Bosses in Remnant, the Ixillis(es?) has a regular drop, an alternate drop, a Trait it unlocks when defeated, an Emote it unlocks, and a special item that it drops for players who defeat it on Hardcore Mode. To get all these items, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:you'll have to either replay the game or keep re-rolling the Corsus Realm in Adventure Mode until Ixillis pops up again. Each item does something💫 different, to be more specific:

What Attacks Should You Look Out For?

Remnant From The Ashes - Aiming At Ixillis' Head

This is actually one of the rare boss battles in Remnant that doesn't rely on random mobs spawning in at some point - the only opponents you have to worry about are the two Ixillis’: Ixillis XV and Ixillis XVI.

Honestly, for the first couple of attempts, this encounter will likely feel very overwhelming, as the two Ixillis’ love to stack their attacks, the bridge that serves as the arena is incredibly easy to dodge roll off of, and players are constantly forced to turn around over and over again. But, once pl🌟ayers get a bit of muscle memory for all the moves, phases of the fight, and when to use their Weapon Mods, it gets a bit easier.

Phase One: An Introduction To Its Attacks

Remnant From The Ashes - Ixillis Lifting Up Its Weapon To Summon The Spectral Orbs

Phase one is short & simple - this is meant to be the intro Phase where you can get a feel for Ixillis' moves before Ixillis XVI wakes up and ruins your concentration. The Phase has a specific trigger that determines its length as well: once you knock out 1/4th of its health, Phase two immediately starts. Bu💎t, for Phase one, here are all the attacks to keep an eye out for.

Corrosive Bombs

Remnant From The Ashes - Ixillis Charging Up A Corrosive Bomb In Its Hand

These Corrosive Bombs are what Ixillis uses the most, and are telegraphed by it holding its hand at a 90-degree angle and charging up a ball of Co𝔉rrosive energy before lobbing two of them at you in ꦏquick succession. Thankfully, because the telegraph is so obvious, it's the easiest attack to dodge. Just roll/sprint once it's tossed and you should be fine.

But, to stay as safe as possible, try and go from one side of the bridge to the other when d🌌odging this attack instead of back-and-forth so that you aren't caught between these two damaging AoEs these bombs leave behind.

Spectral Orbs

Remnant From The Ashes - Looking At The Spectral Orbs Floating In The Distance

These ghastly orbs of energy are what end up distracting player🌠s the most, causing them to take an Ixillis slash to the face in the instant they look away. The primary function of these orbs is to make you feel overwhelmed, and that might make you think that th𝐆ey don't hurt much individually, but that's not the case. These things are not only insanely distracting, but they can also kill you exceedingly fast if more than one or two orbs make contact.

ඣSo, once Ixillis holds its weapon over its head an💝d summons these things, make it your immediate priority to shoot them all down. Some useful tips for getting rid of them:

  • Have a primary meant for hurting Ixillis and a high-ammo rapid-fire secondary for the Spectral Orbs. Because they disappear in a few bullets, the Repeater Pistol is actually a perfect counter to this attack.
  • They home in on you but thankfully move quite slow, so just keep moving around and keep enough distance to chip away at them.
  • In co-op, dedicate one player to keeping an eye on Ixillis and calling out attacks while the other focuses on taking out these orbs.

The Horizontal And Vertical Slashes

Remnant From The Ashes - Ixillis Mid-Slash

There are two primarily "slashes" Ixillis can unleash and ar🐟e the only real "melee attacks" that it does. Like the Corrosive Bombs, both slashes have pretty obvious tells.

  • The Vertical Slash is coming if Ixillis holds its weapon above its head. It looks pretty similar to the animation it does for summoning Spectral Orbs, but there's no energy coming out of the tip of the weapon. It comes out pretty quick so players should start sprinting to the other side of the bridge as soon as they see it coming.
  • The Horizontal Slash, predictably, is coming if Ixillis holds their weapon on the left or right side of their body. The side they hold it on is also the side the attack will start from, which is good to know. It's much harder to dodge this one by sprinting, so you should try and roll through it instead. And, rolling away from the direction of the slash is recommended since you can accidentally roll into the tail-end of the slash if you roll "with" it.

Phase Two: Double Trouble

Remnant From The Ashes - Aiming At The Cocoon For Ixillis XVI

Once players deplete one of Ixillis XV's four health chunks entirely, they're in for a surprise. Ixillis XVI will spawn from the cocoon hanging from the ceiling on the opposite side of the arena, and this is w💜here things actually get difficult.

You're now forced to keep track of both Moths are once, one on each side. Granted there are times when one Ixillis crosses over to the same side as the other one, but that's pretty rare and actually makes things easier rather 𓄧than harder.

Ixillis XV Sticks To The Phase One Moveset

Remnant From The Ashes - Ixillis Crossing Over The Bridge

When this duo starts attacking together, be aware that Ixillis XV will keep using the same list of moves as in Phase one♚, but Ixillis XVI will start blasting the bridge ♛with Beams of Light.

Some players have reported that Ixillis XV started unleashing the Bea𒐪ms of Light for them while Ixillis XVI used the Phase one attacks, but that seems to be a pretty rare occ🐽urrence.

In any case, what really matters is that one sticks to Bombs, Spectral Orbs, and slashes while the other starts spamming Beams of Light.

The Beam Of Light

Remnant From The Ashes - What The Beam Of Light Looks Like From Afar

The Beam of Light is the attack that will ruin your day. Ixillis flies right in front of the player, quickly charges energy, and unleashes a pretty w♚ide beam of light that goes across the entire bridge.

Also, while casting this beam, I🍨xillis also strafes about a third of the bridge’s length, so avoiding this isn’t as simple as dodge rolling at the right time. To reliably avoid getting nuked or pushed off the bridge by this beam, you should:

  • Wait until Ixillis just barely starts “charging up” the beam, as once it does this, it won’t follow the player anymore until the beam is cast.
  • As soon as you can tell the Beam is coming, immediately turn and run toward the side of the bridge with more distance to cover. You just want to make sure you don’t successfully avoid the beam only to get trapped between it and the fog barrier locking them into the arena.
  • After a Beam of Light, Ixillis stops for a second or two before starting up the next one until it covers the entire bridge. After it goes from one side to the other, it will join the other Ixillis in a Banshee Scream nine times out of ten. But, if it doesn't, get ready for another Beam.

The Banshee Scream

Remnant From The Ashes - Both Ixillis Locked Into The Same Animation For The Banshee Scream

If players manage to avoid the Corrosive Bombs, Spectral Orbs, Beams of Lighಞt🐽, and slash attacks, they’ll get to the Banshee Scream stage of the boss fight.

This is the part of the fight players where things get really tense. After taking a certain amount of damage, both Ixillis XV and XVI will start charging up this scream of theirs at the exact same time. This attack is by far the easiest to see coming as both Ixillis’ stop dead in their tracks and lock into the exa🃏ct same pose to gather enough "energy" to scream.

To get through this attack, it really boils down to a “DPS Race” as players need to deal enough damage to both Ixillis’ in order to interrupt their charge. If they do, both Ixillis' stay completely still for a few seconds, opening them up for h🌟uge amounts of damage.

Even stopping one is enough, as players will still suffer from a big chunk of damage and stagger from the other Ixillis who wasn’t interrupted, but most of you with a normal build will probably live through a 50 percent powerful Banshee Scream.

Some more tips to get༒ through this phase unscathed inclu𒉰de:

  • Make sure both your weapons are fully reloaded and unload with both of them in sequence. Only reload after both weapons are empty and all Weapon Mods have been used.
  • For players attempting this in co-op (168澳洲幸运5开奖网:wh🥃ether on Steam or on the Epic Game Store), make sure to pick one Ixillis and focus on interrupting it before moving on to the other. Communicate which one to shoot with your co-op partner because focusing on separate Ixillis’ just means you have more of a chance to fail to interrupt either of them, almost guaranteeing a wipe. Meanwhile, focusing one after the other at least means you'll only take 50 percent of the damage from the attack.
  • If you successfully interrupt one of them but are almost 100 percent sure you don't have time to interrupt the other, stop shooting and heal to full.
  • Remember, the weak spot for Ixillis is its head, and the head is easy to aim for when it’s floating in place for this attack.

Phase Three: Back Down To One Moth, But It's Twice As Deadly

Remnant From The Ashes - What The Enraged Remaining Ixillis Looks Like After One Died

Now, if players are going for the Guardian Tentacle, they should never reach this phase, because once the surviving Ixillis finishes its enraging animation after seeing its sibling is dead, they've taken too long and the remaining Ixillis will only drop the Hivestone.

But, for those of you going for the Hivestone or those not worried about Alternate Rewards🍰, this is the final ph🌃ase of the fight.

The Remaining Ixillis Enters An "Enraged" State

Remnant From The Ashes - An Enraged Ixillis Unleashing A Faster Beam Of Light

Once either Ixillis XV or XVI is killed, the surviving one will go Berserk, as seen by t🐈heir glowing gold eyes. There are two primary differences in thi๊s Phase compared to Phase one:

  • They'll attack way faster.
  • The remaining Ixillis also starts sprinkling Beams of Light into their combo in-between attacks.

You can basically play this Phase as you did for Phase one, but we recommend you also play it safe and dodge roll whenever Ixillis moves its hands. Because the attacks come out faster, they’re harder ♈to dodg🍌e.

Wit✨h that in mind, if Ixillis is moving its hands at all, it’s about to attack, so start spamming the dodge roll in a direction. Sure, this might mean you get hit by its Horizontal Slash more often, but if it means you'll dodge all the other attacks, so it's worth the risk.

How To Get The Alternate Kill And The Guardian Tentacle

Remnant From The Ashes - Ixillis Charging Up The Beam Of Light

So, how do you go about killing both Ixillis' in rapid succession in order to get the Guardian Tentacle to drop? It's already hard enough to micromanage fighting two bosses at once, how are you supposed to line up both Ixillis' health bars closely enoughღ in the heat of the moment? Well, here arꦐe a few tips:

  • Get rid of 90 percent of Ixillis XV's first health chunk in Phase one since Ixillis XVI won't spawn for Phase two until 100 percent of that health chunk is gone. Then, turn around and shoot the cocoon XVI comes from until it pops open and XVI comes out. Doing this will cause XVI to spawn a bit early, but with 3/4's health instead of a full bar.
  • Once both Ixillis back off after a failed or partially successful Banshee Scream, use this time to equal out the health bars of both of them rather than melting one in particular.
  • Save the real burst damage potential for right after the first Ixillis dies. That way, even if one Ixillis dies a bit early and the remaining one has like 1/4th of their health left, you still have the option of melting them quick enough for the game to still register both their deaths as “killed at the same time”.

Weapon Mods, Weapons, And Consumables Recommendations For This Boss

Remnant From The Ashes - A Sample Gun, Consumable, And Weapon Mod PNG Overlaid On Blurred Image Of Ixillis

Now that this has covered all of Ixillis XV and XVI's moves, what items and/or Equipment should you use to make this fight easier? Well, there are some Weapon Mods that vastly decrease the difficulty of this boss fight, some Guns that work better than others, and some specific Consumables that are always helpful. We could also recommend some Accessori﷽es too, but frankly, most Accessory recommendations are times that you should have eq⛄uipped at all times, not just for a specific boss, so it won't make much of a difference.

Weapon Mods

Remnant From The Ashes - Image Of Corsus Swamps With PNGs Of Useful Mods For Ixillis Fight Overlaid On Top

This is one of the boss 🎃fights in Remnant that's vastly imp൲roved by smart Weapon Mod usage. If you don't listen to any of our other tips or recommendations, at least listen to this one:

  • Veil of the Black Tear: Blocks both the Spectral Orbs and the Corrosive Bombs, so this is a huge help. Just be warned, this doesn’t block the Beam of Light (even though it should).
  • Rattle Weed: A deceptively amazing weapon mod. This weed actually pulls in the Spectral Orbs, letting players focus entirely on damage during this phase or gathering all the orbs in one place to take them all out at once with a big AoE burst.
  • Elemental Damage Mods: Weapon Mods such as Hot Shot, Radioactive Volley, Breath Of The Desert, and Skewer are incredibly helpful for passively bringing down the health bars of both Ixillis XV and XVI so that you can solely focus on dodging their overpowered attacks.
  • Rift Walker: Lets players avoid Banshee Scream and Beam of Light if they time it right.
  • Iron Sentinel and Beckon: Summon Mods are very helpful for damaging Ixillis while the player focuses on Evasion. But, since the enemies fly, Seed Caller and Very Good Boy are essentially useless here.

Guns To Use Or Avoid

Remnant From The Ashes - Blurred Image Of The Praise The Gun Emote With Weapon PNGs Of Reccomendations For Ixillis Fight Overlaid On Top

Sorry to all 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:those Melee Weapon builds out there, but Ixillis is b𒁃asically impꦦossible to do with Melee Weapons only. As far as actual Guns are concerned:

  • Like previously mentioned, the Repeater Pistol is great for taking out the Spectral Orbs, but the Submachine Gun works too.
  • Precise Long Guns like the Sniper Rifle, Hunting Rifle, and Beam Rifle are fantastic since Ixillis has an easy weak point to aim for.
  • Meanwhile, weapons with slow projectile speed like the Alternator or Richochet Rifle aren’t great since both Ixillis XV and XVI move around a lot and are a decent distance away, leaving enough time for the projectiles to just straight-up miss.

Consumables

Remnant From The Ashes - Blurred Image Of Ixillis Flying In From Above With Consumable PNGs Overlaid On Top

A lot of Consumables in Remnant꧃ work as recommendations for all bosses, but these ones, in particular🌳, are great for the Ixillis boss fight:

  • Ammo Boxes are basically mandatory since there are two health bars to worry about.
  • Greenleaf is a must-have as well since a few of the attacks inflict Corrosion. Pop one right after walking into the arena or right before for the passive 30 percent Corrosive resistance as well.
  • Adrenaline and Frenzy Dust are great options always.
  • Bloodwort is recommended for every boss fight, but it’s especially useful here since the quick animation and slow health regen work well for players to pop and then slowly regain their health as they focus on dodging Ixillis’ moves.
