Capcom revealed to at E3 2018 that the remake uses the "RE Engine," a game engine built for Resident Evil 7: Biohazard. Biohazard was a return to form for the iconic horror series after the action-heavy Resident Evil 6. Biohazard used atmospheric environments, genuine jump scares, and had an overall claustrophobic feel that made it a legitimately horrifying game. The big difference between the gameplay of Biohazard and Resident Evil 2 is that the latter uses a third person camera angle as opposed to Biohazard's first person view.
