Despite carrying the series' name and being included alongside 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Resident Evil 3, Resident Evil Resistance will not be considered canon. In a recent interview with the Official PlayStation Magazine, producer Peter Fabiano stated that the multiplayer component of its upcoming Resident Evil remake won't have ramifications for the rest of th♏e series going forward.

"[It's] basically set in Raccoon City with scenarios that make it impossible to fit in the actual timeline," Fabiano explained. The reason for Resistance's inclusion with the main game is that Capcom feels the two share thematic elements. "You'll remember that the Japanese subtitle for RE3 was Last Escape. Both of these titles have characters that are trying to escape somewhere or something, ꧙so thematically it ꦫmade sense."

This is ultimately not unlike the other multiplayer-focused entries of the series (barring Resident Evil 5 and 6). Outbreak isn't considered canon and neither was Operation Raccoon City. The later even let players hunt down and kill Resident Evil 2 pr🍨otagonists Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield, so it o💟bviously wasn't canonical.

The likely reason for Fabiano's clarification is that fans probably wondered where Resistance came from. Before the remake of 3 was revealed, Capcom was showcasing off Project Resistance as if it was a standalone title. With nothing heard about potentially following up Resident Evil 2, this latest game could have been the continuation of the se⛦ries in a new direct🅷ion.

That didn't happen, but we're left in a strange situation. Non-canon games are fine and all, but it's always a little tricky trying to tell a story that fans can ultimately ignore. Resistance has a pretty big hurdle to overcome considering past multiplayer games haven't been warmly received. At least this iꦛsn't coming at the expense of traditional single-player games, not to mention it even comes with a full campaign.

Many aren't happy that "Mercenaries" won't be returning. Resistance is clearly taking the place of that mode and it does seem pretty neat. It would have been great to get a new version of the classic side-mode, but I'm all for trying new things. If Resistance stinks, we can always hope the inevitable Resident Evil 4 remake comes with Mercenaries.
