After Leon finds Ashley and the two of them make it through the Gonado-infested village, the big bad of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Resident Evil 4 shows up to introduce himself. Osmund Saddler has a sick new haircut in the remake and also prefers🐠 to keep the expository dialog to a minimum, instead opting to have Ashley just shoot Leon without going over his master plan first.
Only, things don't exactly go as planned. Although both are infected with the Plagas parasites, Ashley is able to resist Saddler's control, shooting both his priestesses before finally aiming at Leon. But when she pulls the trigger, Leon's gun jams.
The jam itself is relatively common for handguns that aren't held correctly. A video from explains the "stovepipe" malfunction as it relates to the scene in Resident Evil 4. Leon's SG-09 pistol jammed because a spent casing wasn't ejected fast enough to fully leave the ejection port, causing the slide to get stuck open and preventing the next round from feeding correctly.
"The slide doesn't fully cycle," Sonny explained. "The slide didn't have enough velocity to throw the spent casing clear before the slide moved forward and captured the spent casing. The slide also rode up over the next round in the mag."
Once Saddler leaves with Ashley, Leon clears the jam, knocking the spent casing loose and then loading the next round manually, but not until he checks to make sure there's a round in the magazine.
But was the jam just a matter of luck? According to Reddit user , it was all thanks to Ashley’s heroic resistance to Saddler’s Plagas-i🌳nduced mind control.
"What's really cool is that Ashley is shaking Leon's pistol so hard on the first two shots (attempting to resist Saddler) that the action jams right after she shoots the second priestess," wrote serenity78. "Ashley was fighting so hard that she managed to cause a Stovepipe Jam because the pistol wasn't being gripped correctly, saving Leon's life in the process."
As seen in Sonny's video, stovepipe jams are most often the result of improper grip. The gun's recoil is strong enough that it flies backward and catches the spent casing before it has time to clear. Ashley's trembling, one-handed grip is a perfect example of how not to fire a handgun.
