Capcom knows how to encourage longevit𝓰y in their games without padding their stories out with filler. Between , , and , opts for refined playthroughs over long ones. Which is noꦯt to say their franchises lack in replayability. For as short as each Resident Evil game is, they all encourage you to come back for more time and time again.
A♛ return to form for the series, takes a lot of cues from th♐e original and runs players through a relatively fast paced survival horror adventure. That said, the sheer terror at play and the game’s level design means that Resident Evil 7 can be on the lengthy side for newcomers who keep getting scared in their tracks.
How Long Is Resident Evil 7?
Resident Evil 7 is admittedly on the lengthy side compared to the earlier games, but only because the story has so many cutscenes and interac𒈔tive segments. In ter🍎ms of pure level design, Resident Evil 7 is only divided into four key areas: the Guest House, the Baker Estate, the Wrecked Ship, and the Mines – all of which you can plow through if you know what you’re doing. Being in first person, RE7’s style and tone of horror is far more visceral than its predecessors.
Jack Baker’s stalking phase and the erratic movement most Molded share also caus𒀰e some players to take gameplay slow, trying to stealth around enemies. This naturally adds to the final playtime. RE7 also includes item manag🅷ement, meaning you need to have the right items on hand to progress. If you don’t, that’s a trip back to the item box. All this results in a playthrough that can take anywhere between 6 to 9 hours. Series veterans will skew towards the former while newcomers might even push 10 if they get too scared.
How Long Is Not A Hero?
Not A Hero stars seri🍸es veteran Chris Redfield instead of RE7’s protagonist Ethan Winters, and is generally considered by fans an essential part of the game’s story. Not A Hero resolves most of Resident Evil 7’s loose ends, with Chris confronting Lucas Baker and ultimately finishing what Ethan started.
The DLC is best played immediately after Resident Evil 7 and is far more actionized than the main game, almost playi😼ng out like a linear (and much shorter) version of Metroid Prime at some points. While on the short side in the grand scheme of things, Not A Hero’s level design encourages exploration that adds to the playtime. That said, Not A Hero pushes 2 hours at most and is easily beatable in a single hour.
How Long Is End Of Zoe?
End of Zoe is Resident Evil 7’s last main piece of DLC and clears up what happened with Zoe after Ethan left her in the main story (while als🦄o clarifying that Ethan curing Mia was the canonical choice). End of Zoe stars Joe Baker, Jack’s previously unmentioned brother who runs into an infected Zoe and starts punching his way through any Molded in sight.
Like Not A Hero, End of Zoe is very action heavy. Unlike Not A Hero, Eജnd of Zoe indulges in its premise more with a longer playthrough that runs Joe through a few different (albeit short) areas. 😼It’s possible to complete End of Zoe in an hour, but most will clear their first playthrough in 2 to 3 hours.
