Very few gaming franchises have had as many ups and downs as Resident Evil. What began as a revolutionary survival horror title for the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:original Sony PlayStation evolved into a mega-franchise. This resulted in some games becoming all-time classics while others were disaster🔯s.
Also, as a result, some Resident Evil games have become overshadowed or received unfair hatred on release. So much so that years later, some of the games deserve a proper revisiting; while others should just be skipped during a Resident Evil marathon. Which is which?
10 Awful: Resident Evil Genesis 💯
A remake of the original Resident Evil as a mobile game; that sounds like a terrible idea, right? Well, that assumption would be correct. Instead of the horror and atmosphere that made Resident Evil so famous, Genesis looks like a 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:downgraded mod of The Sims.
Everything is too brightly lit, it's way too easy, and it just has nothing appealing about it. Only revisit it out of morbid curiosity of the fact Genesis was a real game.
9 ♔ Overlooked:ౠ Resident Evil: Code Veronica X
Yes, the item management system in Code Veronica X is unforgiving. This makes it understandable why fans were turned off by it. However, Code Veronica X retains many elements of what makes Resident Evil so great.
Over the years with the help of the Code Veronica X re-release, it has become a cult gem. One of its greatest aspects is the creature designs and a much-improved version of the classic Resident Evil 2 gameplay.
8 🔯ꦦ Awful: Resident Evil 6
Being able to play as Leon Kennedy and Chris Redfield in the same game sounds like a perfect idea. Unfortunately, Capcom managed to ruin it by turning Resident Evil into an over the t𓃲op action game that rivals the later movies rather than survival horror🍷.
Even Leon's more horror-centric campaign is not that scary. All three campaigns are just boring shooting galleries that made players wish 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:they were playing Dead Space.
7 🤡 Overlooked: Resident Evil Revelations
After the disaster of Resident Evil 6, Capcom found a happy medium between action and horror. Resident Evil Revelations features scary enemy d꧅esign, fun action, and a proper atmosphere.
The sequel, Revelations 2 is arguably even better. So if gamers are looking for something that's a perfect mix of Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 5; the Revelations series is the best game for that.
6 Awful: Operation Raccoon✱ City
Capcom didn't seem to completely learn from their mistakes. Operation Raccoon City came along and suffered from a major identity crisis. Despite taking place during the events of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3, ORC never once felt like it belonged in the series.
Instead, Operation Raccoon City just feels like a zombie mod of a Ghost Recon game. Not a very good mod either: everything just felt bla🌳nd and lifeless. It's an example of an experiment by Capcom gone horribly wrong.
5 Overlooked: Resident Evil 5 ♓
On release, the fifth main Resident Evil game received a lot of backlash for having less horror. While this is a legitimate flaw to have, Resident Evil 5 is really not that bad. There is still a lot of intense moments that can stress out the player. It may not be as sc🥃ary but it can keep the player on edge💎.
The levels are well-designed and the visuals are genuinely impressive. However, the most overlooked feature is co-op. With a second player, Resident Evil 5 can be of the Xbox 360 era.
4 Awful: Resident Evi🅠l: Survi꧅vor
An on-rail arcade-style shooter. Now, around the same time, Sega had been producing168澳洲幸运5开奖网: The House Of The Dead games which were fantastic. Easily some of the best arcade games ever made. Resident Evil taking on that style seems like bread and b𝕴utter.
Sadly, Capcom did absolutely none of the arcade shooter elements correctly. Survivor has no horror and features a joke of a story. Said story is made even worse by easily the worst voice acting in the series. The only thing Survivor has going for 💫it is actually impressive visuals for the original PlayStation.
3 🎃 Overlooked: Resident Evil 0
It's essentially more of the Resident Evil remake but on a train. Resident Evil 0 nails the dark atmosphere and claustrophobic horror despite weaker characters. If anyone enjoys the Resident Evil remake, they will probably enjoy this one.
However, Resident Evil 0 features by far 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:the worst villain in the series. Everythinꦫg about James Marcus🌸 is laughable to the point of nearly ruining the game whenever he appears.
2 Awful: Umbrella Corps ♚
Remember when Resident Evil tried to enter the online competitive multiplayer shooter genre? No? Good. Umbrella Corps physically hurts to play as both a Resident Evil game 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:and a competitive shooter.
It looks like Capcom spent five dollars on the development of Umbrella Corps. The gameplay is broken and downright headache-inducing. There is nothing redeemable about Umbrella Corps.
1 ꦉ Overlooked: Resident Evil: Outbreak
When it comes to Resident Evil games, none are as forgotten as the Outbreak games. This is a complete shame since Outbreak is a genuinely awesome experience. Rather than one or two playable characters, Outbreak has a multitude of characters; each with their own unique abilities, skills, 🐈and items.
This concept allows for so much replayability. A puzzle that's nearly impossible with one character can be a piece of cake with another. This makes Outbreak and its sequel some of the more unique games in the series; they are in desperateꦍ need of more attention.
