Well, the villainous side of Crash Team Rumble just got a little big bigger, as it was announced during Summer Game Fest that classic bad guys Ripper Roo an🐬d N.Gin will be added to the game at some point in Season 1.
The addition of these two iconic villains was revealed in a brand new gameplay trailer, which gave us another look at the game before it launches next week. It was revealed that Season 1 of Crash Team Rumble will begin on July 20 when the game launches, and will run through to September 12, during which we'll see Ripper Roo and N.Gin drop as playable characters at some point. It was also announced that during this time we'll also be getting some new maps to throw down in, a bunch of new powers to try out, and some limited time modes to experience.
it's clear that Toys For Bob is looking to start off Crash Team Rumble's life with a bang, although we don't quite know exactly when these new features will drop. Like with most live service games, you can probably expect them to be sprinkled throughout the season to keep things fresh, and we'll likely get even more characters announced for future seasons. Who they'll be is anyone's best guess, but many will be hoping that Toys For Bob brings Spyro out of his cage and lets him stretch his wings for a bit, even if it's not part of his own game.
To make things even better, Crash Team Rumble also looks like it's going to be a pretty inclusive game too, as the developer recently confirmed that the series' newest character Catbat is non-binary. According to creative director Dan Neil and co-studio head Paul Yan, Toys for Bob were inspired by David Bowie when coming up with Catbat, and the original character artist's vision to make Catbat non-binary fit with that inspiration.
