As Team N🏅inja revealed, it began work on Rise of the Ronin seven years ago. This means the game had already been in development for a couple of years when Ghost of Tsushima was in October 2017.

On the , the studio's director and president Fumihiko Yasuda shared additional details about the ambitious project. In his words, the team "really wanted to take things to the next level by attempting to thoroughly portray the most critical revolution in the history of Japan." Considering the amount of time and work poured into the game, it's no surprise the company has really high hopes for Rise of the Ronin.
