How To Unlock Rex
To unlock Rex, you need to complete the Power Plant challenge. To do this, you need to take the Fuel Array to the broken robot in Abyssal Depths.
The challenge takes a while, but it is pretty straightforward. When your escape pod lands, head around to the backside and take the Fuel Array. Taking the Fuel Array to a raised platform in the Abyssal Depths will unlock Rex,. Howev✃er, there are some requirements.
- If your health falls below 50% while holding the Fuel Array, it will explode and kill you.
- The Array is also held in the equipment slot, so you are unable to have equipment while holding it.
This challenge is only completed by the player that puts the Fuel Array in Rex, so if you are playing with a group, only one person will unlock it. Additionally, Acrid and MUL-T can't equip this because they don't land in a pod.
Rex's Abilities
Rex's abilities combine the robot and plant aspects of him. Unlike other survivor's though, Rex's abilities use his own HP. You may notice that a few of his abilities use a percenta🐼ge of his overall health. Although they can take a decent chunk of health, they also provide healing based on enemies hit. Here are Rex's default abilities.
- Passive: Natural Toxins. Certain attacks Weaken enemies hit, reducing their movement speed, armor, and damage.
- Primary: Inject. Fire 3 syringes for 3 x 80% damage. The last syringe Weakens and heals for 60% of damage dealt.
- Secondary: Seed Barrage. Costs 15% HP. Launch a mortar into the sky for 450% damage.
- Utility: Disperse. Fire a Sonic Boom that Weakens all enemies hit.
- Special: Tangling Growth. Costs 25% HP. Fire a flower that roots for 200% damage. Heals for every target hit.
Rex's Alternative Abilities
In addition to his default abilities, Rex also has three unlockable abilities. Here are the details and how to unlock them.
- Secondary: Drill. Launch a series of seed bullets into the sky, raining down for 450% damage per second. Unlock by completing an entire teleporter event while under 50% health as Rex.
- Utility: Bramble Volley. Costs 20% HP. Fire a Sonic Boom that damages enemies for 550% damage. Heals for every target hit. Unlock by killing a Clay Dunstrider on Abandoned Aquaduct by throwing it into a pit as Rex.

Rex's Worst Items
Because Rex's abilities use a percentage of HP, it is important to boost his health and regeneration as much as possible.
- You will want to avoid items that turn health into the shield, like Transcendence, which reduces HP to 1 and turns the rest into a shield.
- Using HP stealing abilities with this or similar items will kill you.
Additionally, Brittle Crown is virtually useless. This item will double your gold from enemies, but you will lose it upon taking damage. ⭕Since Rex's HP stealing abilities coun🐻t as damage, you will have no gold.
Rex's Best items
Soldier's Syringe: Rex's Primary Ability is good, but it's a little slow. To speed this up, try to get a few Soldier's Syringes. This item increases attack speed by 15%.
Leeching Seed: As mentioned previously, Rex needs health-boosting items. With this item, you will heal for 1 health after dealing damage. This is an important item to stack, so be sure to 👍have a few of them.
Primordial Cube: This is probably the best equipment for Rex. Primordial Cube fires a black hole that gathers all enemies within 30m to the center. Using this with Tangling Growth will trap a group of enemies, dealing a lot of damage and healing Rex at the same time.
Rejuvenation Rack: This item boosts healing by 100%, which is definitelꦦy important for Rex. It applies to Rex's abilities, as well as any healing items picked up.

Tips And Tricks For Playing As Rex
Rex's HP stealing abilities are great, but be sure to not overuse them. With other survivors, you can just spam abilities to deal a lot of damage. Rex can't spam attacks like this; you will risk losing a lot of health and eventually dying. After a few stages, you may have enough healing items to freely use any 🍸ability but try not to go crazy with his abilities when first starting a run.
Now, let's talk about which abilities are better to use. Remember, it really comes down to which abilities you prefer, but there are some abilities tha🐻t are stronger than others.
In terms of Secondary Abilities, Seed Barrage is better than Drill. Both do about the 🍒same amount of damage, but Seed Barrage has a cooldown of .5 seconds, while the cooldown for Drill is 6 seconds. Although Seed Barr🌼age takes 15% of HP, this can be managed with health-boosting items.
Rex's default Utility isn't that good. After using it a few times, you will realize that it is pretty much useless. Try to unlock Bramble Volley and us൩🍨e it instead. Unlike Disperse, Bramble Volley deals damage and heals. It's basically a better version of Disperse and deals a total of 550% damage, which is a lot.
