One of the writers of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story has expressed a desire to write an animated Star Fox movie on Twitter.
Nintendo used to be a lot more open to animated adaptations of its first-party properties, with 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Super Mario Bros. and 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:The Legend of Zelda receiving their own cartoons in the '80s. The live-action Super Mario Bros. movie from 1993 put the brakes on Nintendo's desire to adapt its properties to the screen, due to the vitriolic reaction to the movie from both critics and fans alike. It seems that Nintendo has finally become more open to the idea of screen adaptations of its properties, though, as there is currently a Super Mario Bros. animated movie in development by Illumination.
There is also at least one person who wants to adapt Star Fox into an animated movie. Raf Grassetti is an art director who works for Sony and also posts ultra-realistic images of characters from other properties on his social media channels. Grassetti recently posted art of the cast of Star Fox, which prompted a response from Gary Whitta, who expressed a desire to write an animated Star Fox movie. Whitta's credits include writing The Book of Eli, After Earth, and being a story co-writer on Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
The Star Fox series has gone into hibernation, following the unenthusiastic response to Star Fox Zero and its terrible control scheme. The Star Fox characters keep making appearances in the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Super Smash Bros. series and had a memorable appearance in Starlink: Battle for Atlas, but Nintendo hasn't shown much interest in Fox McCloud and his friends recently, outside of reviving Star Fox 2 for the S꧋NES Classic Edition and Nintendo Swi𓆉tch Online service.
The Star Fox series has the potential to become an excellent animated movie franchise, but the question is whether Nintendo would approve of such a project. It feels as if a lot rides on the Super Mario Bros. mo𝐆vie, which couldꦉ prompt Nintendo to want more animated features if it brings in a lot of money at the box office.
