The folks behind Roll20, a popular online virtual tabletop environment, recently announced their first RPG game - Burn Bryte. Announced through their , the TTRPG as they have coined it is a first for the company and will be available exclꩵusively for play on their platform from July 7th. This follows over two years of development.
Roll20 🅺provides virtual tabletop environments that allow people from around the world to play a range of roleplaying titles together. The environment consists of a virtual table that players "sit around." Using the inbuilt video chat they are able to communicate with each other, as well as the GM who controls what is on the table. The GM can use the Roll20 interface to display maps, dungeon layouts, and encounters, etc.
Burn Bryte has been designed from the bottom up to be played using the Roll20 virtual tabletop and promises to 🔯utilize the platform to its fullest. The sci-fi game is set in the last remaining galaxy in the universe, Olaxis. Players live together on a spaceship and explore the last remnants of the universe in an effort to stop the Burn from destroying what little is left. The Burn is a destructive field that surrounds the Olaxis galaxy. Slowing increasing in size, the burn wipes out all it touches, making the area around Olaxis smaller by the hour.
The game takes its cues from cinematic space operas such as Star Wars and Guardians of the Galaxy and promises to replicate🐎 the epic space battles and adventures we have come to love and expect. There is a wide choice of species and classes that can be played, with the option to include intricate backstories at the click of a button. They also promise no more flicking through rule books as the Roll20 integration streamlines things like dice rolls and tracking of shared resources.
The game will be available through its marketplace on July 7th. You can pre-order the core rule b🗹ook, a starter adventure with pre-generated characters, and some art tile packs now individually or as part of a bundle.
