Upgrading tools is a must in Roots of Pacha. Not only to make your farming life easier, but to also help you obtain those rare and valuable gemstones in📖 the caves. The caves open up after your fourth day in the village and should be explored as soon as you have the chance.
It's important to get acquainted with the cave early, as you'll be spending a lot of your time there. Since all the tools in Roots of Pacha require numerous resources that can only be found inside the caves. Here we have all the resources necessary for upgrading your tools and how to get them.
How To Upgrade Tools
The majority of tools can be obtained and upgraded by speaking with Acre. After asking Acre for an upgrade, she will take several days to craft the desired tool. Some tools and upgrades will also require the completion of certain ideas and buildings.
The tools station is a building that allows for Acre to upgrade tools with obsidian. Upgrading the tools station further with copper allows Acre to upgrade tools with copper and tin. From here, all you need to do is provide Acre with the proper resources and contribution points to receive your desired tool.

How To Get Roots/Plant Fibers
Plant fibers are obtained by cutting down tufts of grass using your handaxe. Plant fibers are used to create the flint hammer and flint axe.
Plant fibers don't have much use in terms of crafting tools, but can be used for crafting various ideas. Plant fibers are also a great resource for feeding animals.
How To Get Flint
You can get flint as soon as the caves first open up. The cave is located in the northern part of the forest area. Areas in the cave are limited, to advance further you have to break rocks which also rewards you some stone.
After opening up several areas, you will come across a giant stone statue that looks like an armadillo, which requires an offering of either a pomegranate or a pinecone to progress.
Both of these resources can be shaken off trees in the forest. After giving the statue your item of choice, a minigame will start where you have to count how many creatures you see rolling around — the answer is five.
After completing this minigame, the next room will open up. Here, you will find rocks with flint poking out from inside. Destroying these rocks will drop flint.
How To Get Hardwood
Hardwood can be obtained by cutting down large trees with the flint axe. Plenty of big trees can be found in the village and savannah area.
You should stock up on a lot of hardwood since it is used to craft many tool upgrades.
Cutting down smaller trees will only give you regular wood.
How To Get Obsidian
Obsidian can be obtained after completing the Owl Totem's puzzle inside the cave. You will come across this room by naturally progressing through the cave.
To initiate the Owl Totem's puzzle, you need to present the totem with a pomegranate, any root vegetable and any of fish. These offerings should be placed on the left, middle and right respectively.
Finishing this side quest gives you the ability to transform into an owl at the marked locations inside the cave. You will also get access to the cave's map after solving the puzzle.
Looking at the map and head to the room called "A Short Flight." In this room, fly west to find a platform where you can progress further. Keep going, and you will reach an area called "A Very Dark Room." In the northern part of the room, near the yellow armadillo, you will find an area that's covered in darkness.
Go into the darkness and take the first right. Continue on right, go down, then follow the path. You will find a room on the east side that will contain rocks with obsidian inside. You will need the flint hammer to break these obsidian rocks.
How To Get Copper
Copper can be obtained after completing the Monkey's Totem puzzle inside "Monkey Room." This room can be found by moving west one room from "No Man's Rock" then heading all the way north.
To initiate the Monkey Totem's puzzle, you need to present the totem with any type of fruit juice, flour and any fermented fish. These items should be placed on the left, middle and right respectively.
Finishing this side quest gives you the ability to transform into a monkey at marked locations to jump across spires.
From "Monkey Room," head south two rooms, then east one room. Now, head all the way north until you reach a room called "Stomp Your Feet."
Then, head out west from this room, where you'll find a location to turn into a monkey. Hop across the path and head north. In this area there should be rocks with copper inside. You'll need an obsidian hammer to break copper rocks.
How To Get Tin
Tin can be obtained after you to complete the Bear Totem's puzzle inside "Bear Room." This room is found directly east of the "Pacha's Pair-of-Rocks" room.
To initiate the Bear Totem's puzzle, you need to present the totem with honey, any wine and any cheese. These items should be placed on the left, middle and right respectively.
Finishing this side quest gives you the ability to summon a bear spirit to destroy barriers and multiple objects in front of you.
Tin is rare and often difficult to find, but it can sometimes drop from any type of rock randomly. Tin is more commonly found behind these barriers with the bear's mark on them.
