The precious Rowlet can now come to Nintendo Switch and join your family! Unfortunately, the process isn't as easy just hunting it down in tall grass. You'll have to migrate it over from 3DS using Pokémon Bank or trade with someone with Rowlet to spare. Scroll on for more details on moving Rowlet over from Gen VII 🎃to Gen VIII.

Transferring Rowlet Through Pokémon Home

Rowlet's debut games were Pokémon Sun & Moon. It then reappeared in the follow-ups Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon. Until Pokémon Home's release, these were the only games in which Rowlet could be legitimately obtained. You had to pick R♌owlet as your stওarter Pokémon or trade with someone who did.

Rowlet that exist in any of the Sun/Moon games can be put into Pokémon Bank. This 3DS app acts as a cloud storage and is essentially the predecessor to Pokémon Home. Since Home is all but replacing Bank, Nintendo is offering free month of Bank to encourage 3DS owners to migrate their Pokémon to Switch. You just need a paid Premium Plan for Home to unlock the 3DS transfer function.

If you want your Rowlet to make that journey, put it in Bank. Make sure Bank is updated to the latest version, and get Home on your Nintendo Switch. You'll need both consoles on at the same time. Find the menu options on both apps to set up a 3DS-to-Switch transfer, then follow the onscreen instructions. Rowlet, and any other Pokémon you designate, will show up in Home after a few minutes. Then it's just a matter of moving Rowlet from your Home box to your Sword or Shield box.

Trade With A Rowlet Owner

While Nintendo is trying to make things easy with the free month of Bank, many trainers still face obstacles. Maybe they lack a working 3DS, or simply don't want to fork over money for Pokémon Home's Premium🌺 Plan out of principle. Fortunately for these people, trading is a thing.

Pokémon Home has its own in-app trade function and you don't need Premium to use it. Just put a request in on the GTS. Or find a Pokémon trades and ask for Rowlet there. You could also work within Sword & Shield's trade system. Maybe a lucky Rowlet Wonder Trade will come your way💛.

Rowlet's Evolutions

Rowlet evolves into Dartrix at level 17 and Decidueye at level𝓰 34. It does♌ not have a Mega Evolution or Gigantamax form.

What Decidueye Does In Battle

Decidueye has a very use Hidd🥂en Ability in Long Reach. It lets it use moves like Brave Bird without touching the opponent, avoiding nasty contact effects like burns or ﷺparalysis. It's hard to get, but if you can find one through a trade it's well worth it. Alternatively, you can turn Decidueye into a special attacker by taking advantage of its unique typing. Shadow Ball and Energy Ball are good move choices.
