Unless you're emulating NES and SNES games, the mobile marketplace has very few high-quality, old-school RPGs. That should change later this month, when the promising new game Fateful Lore releases on April 30.

Slated for both an iOS and Android launch, Fateful Lore takes the best concepts from early entries in the Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy series — including retro art, overworld maps, and a sprawling narrative — but adds plenty of modern conveniences into the mix to keep things accessible and engaging. Players will be able to save the game at any point in time, will have more directions as to where their next 💖objective is, and the entire game can be completed in just 8 hours.

While that length might be disappointing for a console game, that's a pretty solid campaign for a mobile title meant to be played in short bursts. Plus, the game forgoes "excessive grinding," which typically accounts for large portions of many lengthy old-school games. The only other concern is that this is Fantaseel Interactive's first official game, but everything we've seen so far indicates Fateful Lore will be a title worth checking out.

Fateful Lore will be released on April 30♊ for both Android and iOS. It's expected to cost $3.99, but the developers are yet to settle on a final price. More info can be found on the game's , or in this .
