Blizzard was rumored to have a big reveal trailer for Diablo 4 at BlizzCon, but have since issued a statement saying they actually always intended for Diablo Immortal to be their big reveal.
It looks like Blizzard just can’t say the right thing to save their lives. After a disastrous reveal of their new mobile game, Diablo Immortal, Diablo fans are furious and are searching for any sign of the widely expected sequel to Diablo 3.
Kotaku recently reported speaking with two sources that said that Blizzard had originally intended to show a teaser trailer for Diablo 4 at BlizzCon, but pulled it at the last minute. 𝔍Since then, Blizzard has issued a statement to correcting that report and saying they never pulled anything.
“First off we want to ment🐈ion that we definitely hear our community,” a Blizzard spokesperson began. “We generally don’t comment on rumors or speculation, but we can say that we didn’t pull any announcements from BlizzCon this year or have plans for other announcements. We do continue to have different teams working on multiple unannounced Diablo projects, and we look forward to announcing when the time is right.”
While Blizzard’s statement doesn’t confirm the existence of Diablo 4, a follow-up report from does seem to confirm Diablo 4 is in development, and that it has multiple times o🍬ver the past 4 years and will likely change e🍌ven more before Blizzard feels comfortable revealing the project.
As for the rumored Diablo 4 teaser video, it apparently does exist and even features Blizzard co-founder Allen Adham. “It’s possible that those plans were simply discussed and never solidified,” according to Kotaku.
Instead of a Diablo 4 trailer, Blizzard opted to reveal their upcoming mobile title, Diablo Immortal. While Immortal is rep♛ortedly a fine mobile version of a classic franchise, Blizz🌱ard displayed remarkable tone-deafness in revealing a mobile game to a room full of hardcore console and PC gamers.
The outrage from Diablo fans has been intense, with the Diablo Immortal trailer receiving over 400,000 dislikes on YouTube and the Diablo subreddit a raging bonfire of anti-Blizzard posts. A Change.org petition was even created to convince Blizzard to scrap the game entꦚirely, although it seems unlikely to d𒆙issuade the developer from entering a multi-billion dollar mobile market.
