Nintendo fans eager to see what 2020 has in store might not have to wait much longer. Recent GameStop activity suggests the store is prepping for a sudden surge of new Nintendo Switch titles. This, along with previous patterns, has some thinking that a Nintendo Direct will happen sometime in January. As in January 2020. As in the mon🍒th we are currently in.
Youtuber and avid Nintendo fan recently posted a picture of what looks to be GameStop's list of upcoming Nintendo Switch games. Of note are a𒅌 bunch of new, unnamed titles. Many Nintendo followers, and Fadel him♊self, recognized this sudden addition as something GameStop does before a Nintendo Direct.
Based on past patterns, Nintendo will announce several ports of indie games and possibly popular Xbox/PS4 titles for Switch during the Direct. These titles will release right after theဣ Direct's end. As such, GameStop is readying itself by adding the product numbers of these games to its system now. Of course, they 🐽show up as unnamed in order to protect Nintendo's secrecy.
Many believe this points to a January Nintendo Direct because GameStop tends to add these unnamed titles just 🤡days before Nintendo announces them. Fadel also points out that Nintendo scheduled some sort of maintenance to the Switch online system for January 8. The random middle-of-the-week maintenance could portend some big changes coming to Switch.
On the other hand, as points out, there are some things about this list that don't add up. For one, the release dates for these unknown games is December 31, 2019. A date that has already passed. The date could just be a plac𓃲eholder, or it could show that these games suddenly showing up is a system error. Also odd is that Nintendo has done a Direct in February these past few years, not in January. It could buck the trend, but there isn't really a reason to.
2020 is looking pretty bare for Nintendo as it stands. Animal Crossing is the only known big franchise game, and that's slated for March. But what about the rest of the year? And what of the mysterious fifth Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC character? Nintendo def𒊎initely has a few things up its sleeve, and hopefully fans will hear about them soo🥀n.
