According to eagle-eyed LinkedIn sleuths, Microsoft studio The Initiative may well be working on a new Perfect Dark title… or, at least, a project so similar that Joanna Darꦚk herself would feel right at𝐆 home starring in it.
It’s been just short of twenty years since the release of Perfect Dark, a stellar FPS for a system that sorely lacked representation of the genre (the equally brilliant GoldenEye 007⛎ was about the extent of it). It revolved around a mysterious alien cons🔯piracy and the dastardly dataDyne corporation, which special agent Dark had to foil.
Another version of the title was released for the Game Boy Color before developer Rare was bought out by Microsoft. After that, Nintendo gamers didn’t get a sniff of what was next for the series: a prequel, Perfect Dark Zero (2005), and an Xbox 360 remaster of the original (2010). All’s been quiet on the Perfect Dark frontꦇ for a decade since then, but now it sounds as𒆙 though a new title in the series might be in the works.
As reports, Twitter user Kobrille found an interesting job description for a Technical Designer at The Initiative. The most telling parts read, “responsible for scripting and creating various world interactables and gameplay objects, such as doors, destructibles, hazards, triggers, and much more” and “Designed and scripted various weapons, gadgets, and a camera surveillance system for an unannounced project.”
There have been rumors that The Initiative may have been working on a Perfect Dark entry 🌠for some time now, and while this isn’t exactly confirmation, theဣse details certainly smack of it. Or a brand-new similar IP, perhaps? Either way, the team is cooking up something big and we want to know what!
