The Excavator Pit is one of the largest Monuments in Rust. Its towering Excavator and the surrounding quarry are found in the Desert Biome, peaceful on the outs🙈ide (with some radiation) but with its interior guarded by fierce Scientists.

Not recommended for fresh players (unless you are after some of the small loot crates dotted around outside), the Excavator is noisy, popular, and often a target for players on the hunt for extra resources. 📖Here's everything you need to know about suꦛrviving an expedition to this dangerous Monument.

What You Need Before Taking On The Giant Excavator

The Excavator is not recommended for fresh spawns unless you're comfortable with a Compound Bow and feel co𒁏nfident that you can take on Scientists or geared players with nothing but a pile of primitive meds and some arrows. Instead, you should probably come prepared. Here's what you should have:

  • At least a set of Burlap Armor - This is to protect you from the low levels of radiation at the Monument. Make sure you have a Headwrap, Shirt, Trousers, and Shoes. If you need more help with Radiation, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:꧅check out 🌃our guide on how to deal with it.
  • Take a Compound Bow - If you plan on only skirting around the edge of the Monument, a Compound Bow can be useful for at least asserting some dominance against other players. The Bow is good enough to kill the Scientists, but you'll need patience and good aim.
  • Guns And Meds - In an ideal world, you'll want some heavy firepower to deal with the Scientists at the Excavator. They can take a few bullets and sometimes have an aim that defies reality, taking your head clean off from dozens of meters away.

Best Approached With Some Friends

Like many of the dangerous Monuments in Rust, the Giant Excavator Pit is best approached with a 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:small team of friends. Not only will the extra guns be helpful in taking down the multiple Scientists that prowl the machine, but you wi🌺ll also need an extra player or two to watch over the mined resources.

The Excavator is a unique Monument in that it provides an extremely useful function for groups of players looking to harvest mass resources, like High-Quality Metal and an absolute mountain of stone. At its maximum, you can have the machine running for about 40 minutes, which is enough time to get well over 700 High-Quality Metal. Not bad. Plenty to make 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:some of the best armor in Rust.

  • The Excavator is a popular Monument. You will probably be attacked, especially if a group of nearby players hears the Excavator operating.
  • Inside the Excavator is a control panel with a Pager code on. If any other players have the operation of the Excavator tracked, they will be alerted as soon as it's turned on. You will probably be attacked if you're on a busy server.
  • The Scientist NPCs are pretty beefy. They take a lot of shots. Best tackled with more than one player.
  • Once the Excavator is operating you want to keep watch over the entire area. Your resources, oil, and everything else you own will be at risk due to players challenging you.

How To Operate The Excavator

This Monument isn't just about collecting loot, fighting NPCs, and battling witღh other players. The Excavator has a genuinely fantastic use, as it can be used to mine up thousands of resources from the surrounding area, which are then collected into piles for you and your team to pick up.

You need at least one barrel of oil to operate the machine (you place the oil barrel into the white tank at the center of the machine) although you will need 20 oil barrels to run the Excavator for an entire 40-minute cycle. Oil Barrels spawn in various locations, such as at the Dome, at the Airfield, and in random piles of rubbish by the sid🌺e of the road.

Here are some tips:

  • You can choose which Resources the machine digs up - From the fuel tank, take the shortcut up the conveyor belt until you reach the operating room. Here you can choose from which resources you want the Excavator to dig up for you.
  • Station a player on the Resource drop - This is why we said it's a good idea to come with at least two or three players. You will need one of your team to collect the loot as it drops, otherwise, you might find your loot being pinched by others.
  • Don't touch the Excavator's blade - The huge, whirring piece of metal kills you instantly. Who would've thought?

Lots Of Loot, If You Know Where To Look

rust loot

There are a bunch of Crates, Barrels, and Food Crates dotted around the site of the Excavator. Most of the hꦦigher-tier loot is located inside the Excavator, but there are some loot spots outside, too.

Barrels And Food Crates Outside

Wandering across the map and stumble across the Excavator? Even if yo✅u're not prepared it can be a good idea to scope it out. There are usually several spawns of some common Barrels and Food Crates dotted around the outside of the Excavator machine itself. Just don't get too close, the Scientists are fierce competition.

Crates Around The Excavator

The best loot is located inside and on the Excavator machine itself. You'll find it under stairs, on top of pallets, in the cor꧋ners of rooms. There are about 20 Crates in the area, and the variety of loot really depends on a) pure luck, b) whether the Excavator has been looted recently.

Overall, the Giant Excavator is an extremely worthwhile Monument for geared players to farm. The amount of resources you can get is quite silly if you can repeatedly run the machine with a full stack of 20 oil barrels. Thousands and thousands of▨ stone, metal fragments, and sulfur.
