Why walk when you can ride? While you'll be spending a not-inconsiderable amount of time in Sable hoofing it on your own two feet, one of the open-world adventure game's biggest draws is its gloriously convenient (and downright stylish) Hoverbike. But obtain🔜ing this floating mechanical godsend is no small task.
However, it's an early task, and one that players will want to get started with as quickl൲y as possible because the Hoverbike's convenience cannot be overstated. Sable is pretty good about offering map-based guidance on where to go and when, but unlocking the Hoverbike is still enough of a chore that a guide like ours will come in handy. Here's how to get your motor running and head out on the dunes and debris of the mythical world of Midden.
How to Get the Glidestone
To begin your quest for the Hoverbike, you merely need to initiate the game's tutorial. Considering how prevalent🐭 the Hoverbike is in Sable's marketing, it staꦏnds to reason the developers would wish to capitalize on ensuring that players are well and truly aware of its existence — a rare glimpse of linearity in a journey that is often anything but.
Your first order of business involves charging up a Glidestone handed to you by the friendly Hilal. To do so, you'll need to traverse a fair stretch of land. Good thing Driss has a vehicle awaiting your patr🦩onage. On the other hand, it's kind of a piece of a junk, and it most assuredly does not hover.
The Slicing Sands and Ships of Old Quests
Ride out to the temple that Driss mentions and get your Glidestone charged. This quest is called The Slicing Sands, and once it's completed you'll be sent to speak with yet another villager. This time it's Sizo, the local machinist, and their quest is Ships of Old.
Sizo has it in their head to send young Sable out for three machine parts she'll ultimately use to build her beloved Hoverbike. Each of these parts plays a critical role in teaching you the basics of the game — it's all part of Sable's hands-on approach to tutorials, so ꧒make the most of your guided travels while you can.
For a mercy, none of these three parts are tough to find; the locations will be marked accordingly. One is among some mountains. Another is inside an old dam and can be spotted immediately upon entry. The last is inside a crashed spaceship.
How to Catch Beetles for Saima
It would be a lovely thing if all three parts were pick-up-as-you-please, but that last one puts poor Sable in a bit of a pickle. A small child named Saima has the part, and they hav🌸e zerღo interest in ponying it up for free.
Saima wants you to catch three Beetles. To do so, you'll need some Seeds. Chuck a Seed at a Beetle to gain its attention, after which you can run straight over the pest and it will be placed in your inventor🥀y. It's not a bad idea to grab more Beetles than Saima demands; they're worth a decent amount of cash when sold.
Where to Get the Ibex Mask
Return to Sizo and it's almost time to finally earn that Hoverbike. Sizo and Sable will then build the Hoverbike, but before you can put the pedal to the metal you'll need to get the Ibex Mask. Head back to the temple ✃you started the game in 🍌and you'll swiftly note that the "giant face" that was formerly closed is now split apart like an open invitation.
Solving the puzzles within the 🐲temple's depths reveals the Ibex Mask. Snag it and go back to the village, which triggers a bittersweet story sequence. This is where the game truly starts, as Midden opens up for hours of unforgettable exploration. It's also precisely when that snazzy Hoverbike becomes yours.
