Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has an iconic cast for players to choose from, but not everyone is a viable choice for the game. There are some characters who would be too similar to people who are already playable in the game, while others would just be too generic. It's for this reason that some characters have been added to the game as DLC costumes for the Mii Fighters, as they already have generic movesets that can fit a number of different fighters. This is how characters like Cuphead, the protagonist of Persona 4, and Heihachi from Tekken made it into the game.
The Ver. 8.0.0 patch is live for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and it has added a costume for Vault Boy from the Fallout ser🍸ies, which can be purchased for $0.75. ꦚTo celebrate the occasion, Sakurai posted an image of Vault Boy staring into the distance of the Congo Jungle stage.
The Fallout version of Earth has been ravaged by nuclear war and it's possible to add to the damage by detonating a few nukes of your own throughout the series, most notably the one in Megaton in Fallout 3. The sunset in Congo Jungle kind oꦕf looks like a nuclear blast going off, eve♏n if it's not technically from the Fallout universe.
The Fallout series is important enough to warrant inclusion in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, but the Vault Dweller/Courier might not have been interesting enough to deserve a playable fighter, especially as the V.A.T.S system wouldn't work in the game. The Vault Boy costume is the best solution for adding a Fallout rep, as it's the most recognizable character in the franchise and its mascot-like appeaཧrance means that it can easily be adapted🎐 for the Mii Fighters.
