Nicole Brennan talking to Isaac in Dead Space 2

Did you know that Dead Space developers Visceral Games literally revealed one of the biggest moments of the game right off the line? Yes, years after the game's release, eagle eyed players realized that if you take the first letter of each of the game's twleve chapters and lined them up you get "Nicole Is Dead."

This massive revelation might not sound like much to someone just jumping into the series for the first time, however, to those that know the original Dead Space, this cryptic message reveals that Isaac's girlfriend, Nicole Brennan, has been dead all along. 5 The Plasma Cutter Isn't A Weapon

Dead Space Quote with isaac and plasma cutter

The first tool you come across in Dead Space is the plasma cutter. For all intents and purposes, the plasma cutter is your primary starting weapon. The gameplay trailers showed off this gun with it's swiveling stock and ability to take down Necromorphs with relative ease. The plasma cutter is esentially the same as a standard pistol in many traditional FPS games.

However, the plasma cutter isn't a weapon at all. Since Isaac Clarke is an engineer aboard the mining ship the Ishimura, he had to improvise with what was around this deserated ship. The plasma cutter is a simple mining tool, nothing more, nothing less. Fortunately for Isaac, this strong tool makes quick work of the Necromorphs and thus becomes a makeshift weapon.

4 ❀ Marking Your Territory

The central theme of Dead Space lies with the power of The Markers. The Markers are ancient alien technology used to subdue people to control their minds and were used as part of the Church of Unitology's schemes to take over. Did you know there isn't just one Marker though?

While the central gargantuan Marker in the first game takes over Isaac's mind, literally making him see visions of his dead girlfriend amongst many other horrors, there are actually dozens of these monoliths. The fact that there isn't just one Marker but actually many goes to show that the Unitology Church has a much wider reach that many people first thought.

3 The Necromorph Limbs⛦

No, it's not a hidden detail that the Necromorph's limbs must be cut off in order for them to die, it's the fact that these monstrous abberations are made up of several dead people that belies that obvious fact. Most Necromorphs aren't simple one person turned into a terrifying creature.

The majority of the Necromorphs are formed through a fusing of body parts from various people aboard the Ishimura as well as the Dead Space 2 cityscape. Once you understand this fact you begin to realize why limbs 𓂃need to be hacked off in order to their life source to be cᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚut off. Also, the Markers play a large part in powering the Necromorphs throughout the series.

2 The Alien Language Can Be Deciphered ⛎ 🌞

All thoughout the series are various alien languages strewn about walls, tablets, papers, and the🦩 like. You might think that this alien language was thrown in by the developers for set dressing and to flesh out the world. While part of that is true, the aliene languages can actually be deciphered, albeit, in a time consuming manner.

A majority of the writings all stem from the Church of Unitology and due to its alien origin, it's not surprising the writings are unknown to many humans. However, if you take the time to study certain texts from the game, you can actually uncover the hidden messages behind their agenda.

1 Bew𓄧are The Crawlers

Dead Space - Isaac looking ove rhis shoulder while he aims his plasma cutter in front of him

One of the scariest and most disturbing scenes in all of the Dead Space series is actually one that can be comple💮tely passe🎃d by. Early on in Dead Space 🎶2, you can come across a daycare center. This otherwise unobtrusive center is littered with crawlers. Crawlers are the unfortunate Necromorphs that stemmed from babies and now seek to cling to the nearest source of love and warmth.

Well, there just so happens to be a hapless person in this daycare center that tries to give a big hug to one of these crawlers. The crawler, once embraced by the person, explodes in violent fashion with blood and viscera sprayed across the window that Isaac just so happens to be standing behind. It's disturbing and harrowing to say the least but is even more crazy when you can walk right by it.
